We all walked into the house with the pizza. Ben was staying for the next month with us. His parents was out of town for four weeks and he refused to stay at his own house with his sister. Mom never cared if he stayed as long as we cleaned up after ourselves. She also didn't like that I tried to keep Ben awake whenever I didn't sleep. We sat around the coffee table eating.

"So tell us, what's a drudge." Jazz asked.

"Well since I am a drudge, I'll tell you." Uncle Jasper said sitting down. "Some vampire's take on a slave, someone that can use for subsistence and someone keep them safe. You see first term to describe this was a slave. Mostly because slaves were taking against their will. Vampires of that time didn't care if the human wanted it or not. They bit the human pulling a connection between them. Doing this the human's strength increase, eyes becoming sharper becoming like a vampire. Expect you're still human, no fangs, no blood lust and no powers. The vampire then becomes the Master and the human becomes the slave."

"That doesn't explain what drudge is." Ben pointed out. I looked at mom who was looking at a book on the shelf.

"I'm getting to that." Uncle Jasper said wiping cheese off Jazz face. She frowned at him, trying to say he was being embarrassing. "Master and Slaves are only suppose to have that type of relationship. But over time vampire's started treating their slaves more as equals. Some vampires frown on it as see it as they are suppose to put fear and not love in their slave. This is where the term Drudge came about. Drudge is Master's equal, his or her right hand fighting side by side. This has somewhat become a problem to some vampires."

"Why what that be a problem." If anything it sounds a lot better than treating someone like shit.

"Because of the pure drudge." My mom said showing us the book in her hand. On the page was a woman had her arms held above her as light came around. There was guy with a long black cloak beside her and on the opposite side was guy with bright glowing yellow eyes, but look human.

"Was she a goddess of your kind?" Jazz asked. I forgotten she knew a lot about my people.

"Not just any goddess, the first vampire to reach goddess like stature." My mom looked at the book. "Another goddess took over her body to save earth. The the goddess finally passed into the afterlife but the girl become a goddess. But she isn't as important to our little story as this guy." Mom showed us the book and pointed to the guy with glowing eyes.

"Who is he?" Ben asked.

"He is the first pure drudge to ever." Mom said. "When a Master puts so much love and faith into their drudge something happens. For this reason some hate drudges. A pure drudge takes on the Master's powers, which threats how some Vampires live. It's very hard turn a pure drudge. There heart, soul, faith and trust must truly rest with their master."

"The guy is name Aiden. He put so much his Master's needs and life ahead of himself on free will. She never told neither her drudge they had to stay. His heart turned and so did he becoming pure drudge." Uncle Jasper said to us. They both sounded amazing but I was still curious.

"What about the other? Why didn't he become pure too?" Clearly there was more than one by her side from what he just said.

"Well it was physically impossible for him to become a pure drudge because he was Cleric." Mom said.

"And what is that?" I asked. Jazz looked at me.

"I heard of them." Jazz said. "Cleric is another word for witch. This guy..." Jazz pointed to the other guy in the book. " is Joshua or Josh. He is the first Male Cleric of his time. It's hard for their kind to pass the Cleric gene on to a male or for female to produce a son. Most are women. Vampires tend turn to Cleric's for wisdom. You see the goddess Dawn and he were friends before they both become what the naturally where. Just like you and I."

"The goddess Dawn still alive?" I asked mom.

"Yes, she and her drudges are all alive. They just aren't easily found." Mom said putting them back.

"They say her and your mother are sisters." Jasper said. I could see he wasn't suppose to say that cause mom looked at him. She relaxed her face.

"Only because are powers are similar." Mom sat down taking the last slice of pizza box. "You might as well tell them tell them your story since your so talkative."

"Okay,I'm drudge." He said.

"Who is your Master?" Ben asked him.

"Both of Riley's parents." Uncle answered. "I served your father first Riley, this was before your mother was human. Due to some events, I almost died and your father wasn't around. Your mother bit me, but because I was still attached to your father I didn't become a vampire." I looked at mom.

"You ever plan on telling me about this war?" I asked her. She didn't answer the question. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Uncle Jasper went and answered.

"This isn't how I planned on this happening." Mom said.

"Riley." I turned to the voice behind. It had to be a dream, I had to be sleep. My father stood at the door looking at me.
