Chapter 54 - In family

ROSALY

Shawn's tour was coming up, so he spent a lot of time in the studio, often coming home late at night exhausted. Rosaly made sure to wait for him, even sometimes falling asleep on the couch and being carried to bed as soon as Shawn entered the apartment, because she couldn't put her head on the pillow until she was sure he was safe and sound inside the house.

She had slowed down at the dance studio. She still taught until late at night, but had hired a substitute teacher to help her. Especially on the days when she was not feeling so well due to the constant nausea. It was the only thing that bothered her in this early pregnancy, because physically she was healthy, the tests she had done were great, and she had nothing to worry about but enjoying the precious moments with Shawn waiting for her baby.

He had been very careful with Rosaly. He always accompanied her to all her appointments, and since it was now impossible for him to get home for dinner, Shawn made sure to have lunch with her every day.

It was good to see that he had adjusted well to the idea of having a child. At first, Rosaly was afraid that he would think it was too much responsibility for his life as a pop star, and reject the idea completely, but her fears gradually vanished as she saw the passionate way he looked at her and talked about the unborn baby. Many times, Rosaly would wake up late at night, with Shawn's hand on her belly. He had made a habit of sleeping this way, and as silly as it might be, Rosaly felt very safe and happy with just this gesture.

She had told her mother that week, and she was thrilled to relay what she had said to Daniella and Ricardo, who were about to become parents, since their son would be born in a month. Rosaly had received many messages of love and good luck wishes from them, which warmed her homesick heart.

Shawn's family didn't know the news yet, so she had arranged with him to tell them that week. Rosaly was a little apprehensive, even though he had told her not to worry, but she didn't quite know what to think.

She was aware that Shawn's family adored her, but a child was another story. Rosaly feared that Karen would be upset by the news because she thought Shawn was too young to take on such a responsibility. There was still the marriage proposal he had made to her, which he had said he wanted as soon as possible. He couldn't wait to give Rosaly his last name, because he wanted them to be husband and wife by the time the baby was born.

There were a lot of changes to manage in a short period of time. Rosaly had not planned any of this, but fate had worked it out differently. Of course she was happy that she would soon become Mrs. Mendes, but she didn't want to put any more pressure on Shawn than he already had with the preparations for the tour.

He had insisted that Rosaly go with him, and had even made her ask her doctor if it would be possible for her to travel with him. Rosaly's doctor had told them that there was no problem, as long as she took care of herself, was feeling physically well, and was seen by an obstetrician during the trip. So Shawn had asked him for a list of providers he could hire, and Rosaly's doctor had given him the names of the best obstetricians he knew. So Shawn was in charge of interviewing some of them and checking their willingness to travel with them.

Rosaly was not very excited about going with Shawn on this tour. On the one hand she would love his company, although she knew he would be so busy that he wouldn't be able to stay with her all the time, and on the other hand she thought it would be too tiring for her to travel from city to city and country to country, no matter how comfortable Shawn made it for her.

There was a real threat hanging over them, and Rosaly didn't want to give chance to bad luck, so she wanted to keep Shawn close to her eyes, and this tour would provide her with just that.
