ROSALY
Sunday was a day that Rosaly particularly appreciated, as she didn't have to go to work, she was free to do whatever she wanted.
That weekend had been special for her, and it had given her many things to think about. Finding out that Peter was actually Shawn Mendes, had left her quite surprised, but after analyzing all the facts, she came to the conclusion that she didn't care. What was a name anyway? It didn't change the essence of who carried it, and what really matters was how the person was inside.
Rosaly did not know all the facets of Shawn's personality yet, but the ones she had been ab to observe left her enchanted by him.
Shawn was an old-fashioned gentleman, one of those who opened the car door for the girl who accompanied them. He was extremely polite and friendly and had the gift of making anyone feel comfortable in his presence, and Rosaly could never imagine that kind of behavior in a pop star.
She wondered what her students would say if they knew that her foreign teacher was getting involved with their favorite idol. Perhaps they hated her because she was so close to their object of desire, or revered her because she was spending her free time with one of the most coveted guys in the world.
Of course, Rosaly didn't feel at all privileged about it. In fact, she feared that closeness because of the notoriety it might give her, and in her case, that was not good at all, since she was trying to hide in her own shadow.
But how could she be in charge of her heart? She did not know exactly why she had chosen him from among so many guys that she could have known and interested herself. But in the end it was Shawn Mendes who had stolen her heart, and there was nothing more she could do to prevent it.
Shawn made her feel young again, like she hadn't felt in a year. He could make her smile and forget what she was running from.
There were so many things she liked about him, and if she thought about it she might even make a list, but of all the things that made her fall in love with him, maybe she should highlight the brown eyes that looked like the color of old gold, and that made her easily plunge into his mysteries Shawn was as deep as the waters of a lake, and her eyes served as a mirror of his soul. If Rosaly could, she would swim to the bottom only for the pleasure of melting in the heat they promised her.
Another thing she loved about Shawn was the way he'd run his hands through his own hair in a gesture so casual that it hypnotized her. Last night, she could feel the softness when she touched him, and thinking about it, she admitted that Shawn looked incredibly sexy with all his strands messed up.
A wave of revolt took hold of her, preventing her from speaking. It wasn't fair! She had built a new life for herself in that glamorous city that she now considered home, and could not abandon it all because of a scoundrel who knew no limits.
- Rosaly, you can hear me - her brother's voice came to her, taking her out of her state of revolt.
- Yes, I am. Thank you for warning me. - inside she had already made a decision.
- I want you to be careful. Don't go out alone, avoid deserted places, and watch out for any stranger who comes near you. - which means living in a prison, Rosaly thought.
- I promise I'll take care of myself, Ricardo. - Rosaly said in a tired voice.
Rosaly, I'm sorry to bring you bad news. I didn't mean to make you nervous. But, I promise you, sister, we're gonna find a way to end this situation. Caio's money can't be bigger than justice.
- It's okay. -Rosaly answered. But she knew that Ricardo had tried everything, protective measure, lawsuit, harassment charges, manipulation, but everything had been filed, Caio had friends who owed him favors everywhere, and the police were one of them.
- I gotta go. So, I'll come visit you. I love you. I'll see you later. - He quit.
- I love you, too. I'll see you later. - Rosaly answered, hanging up the phone afterwards.
She sat heavily on the couch, wondering what her options would be. She was tired of that situation, she was exhausted from having only black and white in her life. Shawn had shown her that days could be colorful, and light, and that even a rainy day had its glow. And she wanted to explore all the possibilities that fate had in store for her, she wanted to live everything she was entitled to and above all, she wanted to leave the darkness behind and let the sun take over her existence.
She stood up determined not to think about it anymore. She finished all her housework and went for a walk in the park, because the air in her apartment seemed to get heavy after her brother's call.
He had told her to pay attention to any stranger who approached her, and Rosaly wondered if she would have to evaluate everyone who passed her as a potential risk, and she felt ridiculous because of that thought. She wouldn't be locked inside while life was happening outside, she needed space, fresh air and good energy, and she wouldn't let Caio steal it from her either.
Rosaly watched children playing hopscotch, others riding bikes, so carefree and innocent to the evils of the world. For a moment, Rosaly wished she could be like them, and not think about tomorrow living the present as if only it mattered.
She shook her head, trying to ward off any wave of negativity, and decided to go home. She looked at her cell phone for the tenth time that day There was no message from Shawn.
She showered, made a quick soup for dinner, and ate it in front of the TV. After a while, she ended up falling asleep watching a fun comedy movie. She woke up scared to hear the phone ring, looked quickly at her watch, and saw that it was eleven o'clock at night. As soon as she answered it half asleep, she heard Shawn's warm voice on the other end of the line;
- Forgive me if I woke you. I was stuck all day in a meeting with my manager, sponsors, and contractors trying to decide my next tour. And I could only call you now.
- Where are you? - Rosaly asked, running her hands through her misaligned hair.
- I just got home, and I'm in my room. - Rosaly could almost see him sitting relaxed on a corner sofa with one hand behind his head, completely relaxed, while he talked to her on the phone.
- I really wanted to see you, babe. I miss you. - His hoarse voice gave her the creeps. - I know it's late, but do you want me to come to your apartment? Rosaly took a deep breath and brought his image into her mind, and had a crazy urge to beg him to come and hug her and make her feel safe again. She wanted to say that she needed him to comfort her heart, but she didn't want him to know how vulnerable she was, and she said, hoping that he wouldn't notice her need.
- It's too late for you to drive half the city to get here. We can see each other another day this week. You must be tired. - If he was disappointed, Rosaly couldn't figure it out.
- Really long work meetings aren't my idea of fun. I'd rather be in bed with you. - Rosaly gasped at his words. Was Shawn always direct like that, or was the intention to let her think about him? Because if that's what he wanted, he was getting it, because her mind had already begun to send images of the two hugged, with no piece of clothing separating them.
- See you tomorrow, then? - was the only thing she could say.
- We'll see you tomorrow for sure. - He confirmed it. - Good night, Rosely, and dream of me.
- Good night, Shawn. - and she hung up, thinking about what he said. Dream about him? She'd be lucky to be able to sleep after he'd reduced her body to a trembling mass of desire with just a few words. That's when she knew she was really lost.
