SHAWN

Shawn drove home totally unaware of what was going on outside. If they asked him what streets he'd been through, he wouldn't know it. He only felt an exultation inside him that had never been there before. His senses were full of Rosaly, and she alone, there was no room for anything else and no one.

So she was the mysterious girl, who had left him in ecstasy the first time he saw her dancing, how could he imagine that the contained, reserved and serious girl would turn on stage into a goddess of seduction? It was incredible that when he saw her dancing he could see that there were two women inside Rosaly, one so practical and restrained, and the other so daring and passionate. Shawn was fascinated by both of them, and it was almost hard to believe they were the same person, but there was a certain magic that incited his curiosity to quench and unravel all the mysteries that Rosaly could hide in each of her two such remarkable personalities.

Shawn wondered what else Rosaly was hiding from him, how many more things did he have to discover about her? Ever since he'd met her, he'd lived on a roller coaster of feelings that took him by surprise all the time. Rosaly was no ordinary person, he knew she could be as intense as when she was in his arms, and suddenly she became so distant that he couldn't reach her, and that intrigued him because he would never meet anyone like her. His old girlfriends were uncomplicated girls, easy to understand, and had clear goals in mind that he could decipher in a single glance, but Rosaly defied his logic, he never knew what she wanted to do, or what she would say. He had always found himself a connoisseur of the female soul, but Rosaly would prove him wrong. Suddenly, he realized that there were two kinds of women and they were not all the same as he had thought.

There were those who only cared about appearance, who dreamed of an advantageous marriage, and who didn't care about being flattered, and treated like an expensive knickknack. And there were those who struggled with life, who put themselves on the front, who went for a project if they thought it was worthwhile, and who did not accept being just a man's whim, called in the respect they deserved. Rosaly belonged to the second group of women who didn't need a man on their side to prove they were strong, because their fortitude was in their way of looking at life. But come to think of it, wasn't your own mother like that, too? She had never settled behind her marriage by going in search of her own dreams, working hard to realize them, and never giving up being happy on behalf of the man next to her. And if he looked deeper he would see that his sister would follow the same path, for she had an indomitable spirit that made her say what she thought, and Aaliyah always criticized him when he treated her with a weakness that she did not have. And thinking about Rosaly again, he now realized that he had a rare woman in his hands, for this and many other reasons, he wanted to get to know her better and explore those feelings that gushed out of him for her as if they were crystal clear waters from a spring.

He could have stayed with her that night, and by instinct he knew that he would not have been repulsed. Rosaly could protest all she wanted and say that she didn't want to be involved with him, but her body didn't lie, and when he touched her he could hear her sighs and feel the warmth of her kisses. He had left her before everything got out of his control, but even when he had forced himself out of her apartment, stealing her promise to have dinner with him the next day, he had felt an immense urge to go back and spend that night with her. But he didn't want to do anything in a hurry, he wanted her to get used to the idea of having him around, of spending more hours of her day with him, of letting him into her life through the front door, and understand that he had no intention of letting her out of his life.

The point was that he had to tell Rosaly who he really was, and not know how she would react to him stung him a lot.

But he would have to take the risk if he wanted that relationship to grow stronger. he wouldn't get anything by building a relationship based on a lie.

He left his car parked in front of the garage, and he went into the house. He found his mother sitting in front of the TV, with a cup of tea in one hand and a paper handkerchief in the other, which she used to wipe away some undue tears. Shawn remembered that this was the night of the classics her mother loved to watch. At that moment the film shown was gone with the wind , and he thought of Rosaly who also loved that kind of film, and that thought generated another memory of bodies screwed in the carpet, which he tried to forget before other memories left him in trouble in front of his mother.

- Shawn, honey. You're early. Something happened?- before he answered, he gave her a warm hug, kissing her softly on the cheek.

- No, Mommy. I'm just tired. This week has been very hard for me. - He answered, sitting next to her on the couch.

- Is that how was Brian's parents' party ?

- It was pretty busy. You know a lot of publicity, a lot of people, a lot of press.

- Didn't you find anyone interesting there? –his mom's facial expression was innocent but Shawn knew that look. He knew exactly what his mother was getting at.

- Do you want to know if I met any interesting girl at the party?- he laughed at the guilty face his mother made. - The answer is maybe. - he saw his mother's face light up and she asked:

- Is that right? And when will I get to meet this wonderful creature?

- Mom, I said maybe. And how do you know if this girl is wonderful?

- Well, if you chose her, it's because this girl is special. - She put her hand on Shawn's arm, and she kept-- I've been watching you, Shawn. You've known a lot of girls all this time, but I've never seen you excited about any of them, and it got worse as you became famous in music. I confess I was worried that fame had left you very lonely, and you had to get away from everything you knew to venture into this world of celebrities. Although you know a lot of people, and you are always nice to your fans and company, you've never really adapted to all this. Deep down you're still the same shy little boy, who used to live clinging to the bar of my skirt. –she slapped his hand with affection. - But tell me about this girl. What's she like?

- I don't have much to tell you yet. We're getting to know each other little by little.

- But she's special, isn't she? - Shawn swung in the affirmative and answered;

- She's very special. - His gaze shone as he said that, which didn't go unnoticed by his mother.

- Just promise me one thing. When you're sure about your feelings about this girl, bring her home. I really want to meet the girl who was able to get my son's attention.

- Okay, Mommy. - He said kissing his mother's hands. – do you want some company to watch this movie?

-It'd be great to have your company, like the old times... -Oh, yeah.

-I'm gonna go to the kitchen and make some popcorn and be right back. - So the two of them had a nice time together, until the movie ended, and Mom went up to her room.

Lying on the couch, watching the wood burn in the fireplace, he thought about the invitation he had made Rosaly to have dinner with him the next day. He wanted to take her to a quiet place where they could talk without being interrupted, and he knew exactly which restaurant he would take her. He would call them the next day, reserving a table. He would tell Rosaly who he was and use all his charm to make her understand why he hadn't told her the truth about his identity, explain his reasons for not having said anything before, and hope she would understand and give him the chance to show her who he really was.
