*Steven's POV*
Ding dong!....Ding dong!....Ding dong!
"Dad.....there's someone......at the door," Emmie said, half asleep as she spoke.
I let out an annoyed sigh and rolled off of the armchair. A yawn escaped me as I ran my fingers through my hair, still trying to fully wake up. Not even caring that I was in sweatpants and a white T-shirt, I opened up the front door, letting a sudden gush of warm air in.
I looked up and saw Jo standing there with a huge smile on her face, holding some sort of papers in her hand.
"Oh, hey." I rubbed the back of my neck. All of a sudden she squealed and jumped onto me. "Woah what?" I laughed with a confused look on my face.
"Guess what I got!" She said once she had let go of me.
"Um......a new outfit?" I asked.
"Nope! Look." She handed me the papers that were in he hand, but there were too many words that made me confused so I looked up at Jo. "Aren't you excited?!" She asked and looked like she was about to start jumping up and down out of happiness.
"What is it?" I asked and she took the papers from my hand.
She laughed and said, "Reservations!"
"Reservations to?"
"A spa hotel in Santa Barbara, stupid!" She laughed. "It's this Friday through Sunday!"
"That's so grea-" I stopped when I realized something. "Wait, I'm leaving with Emmie and Lauren to go to Georgia for filming this weekend." Her smile then faded into a flat line. I couldn't tell if she was angry or just upset....or both. "And even if we did go, where would Emmie stay?" Jo didn't respond. "I'm so sorry Jo, but I promise that when we get back or the next time I have time off of filming we can go. I promise."
"Okay," she responded whole looking at the ground. I gave her a hug and noticed her smile a little bit. That smile started to fade when she looked into the living room to see Lauren sitting there on her phone with Emmie. "What's Lauren doing here?" She asked, sounding a bit disgusted.
"Oh, she just got back from England yesterday and came to see us," I replied.
Jo gave me another questioning look. "So why is she still here?" She asked.
I was about to answer when Emmie ran into the hallway holding a phone out in her hand. "Daddy, look what Lauren did to-" Emmie laughed but when she saw Jo, she stopped and backed up a bit.
Before anyone said anything Lauren came in. "Where'd you take my phone, Em?" She asked. "Oh....hey Joana." Emmie held onto Lauren's arm which was weird and confusing. It was as if she was afraid of Jo.
"Hi....Lauren," Jo replied. "Well....in gonna go now Steve. I hope we find another date to go." She kissed my cheek and practically stomped out the door.
*Lauren's POV*
That was the most awkward moment I have had in a really long time. I know Jo doesn't like me because of the fact that she's Stevens girlfriend and I'm sadly only his best friend. The only reason I don't like her is because of what she does to Emmie.
"What was that all about?" Emmie asked Steven who gave her a shrug.
"Jo wanted to go to some spa thing this weekend but I told her that we were leaving for Georgia then," he replied and plopped down on the armchair.
"What?" I asked.
"She's just been so pissy lately when things don't always go her way....it's kinda annoying," Steven said and rested his chin in his hands.
"Well then maybe going to Georgia is just what you need," I replied and leaned back on the couch cushions.
"Who wants food?" Steven asked.
"Me!" Emmie and I both yelled at the same time. I looked to my left and saw Emmie smirking. "What are you smiling about?"
"I have an idea." She tapped her pointer finger on her chin. "Whoever can make me the best pancake first wins. Ready set go!"
It took me a moment to process what she had just said before I jumped up and ran for the kitchen. Steven set Emmie on the island stool and we went for the pantry. Steven blocked my way and I wasn't strong enough to push him so I grabbed the bigger pan from a cupboard. Steven and I have always been so competitive with each other since the day we met.
"I'm so gonna winnn," I said like a little kid.
"You're so gonna loseeee," steven replied, trying to imitate my voice.
I placed the pan on the stove and grabbed a handful of random ingredients from the counter. Next, I scooped up some flour and put in in the mixing bowl, continuously eyeing Stevens progress. When I turned to grab an egg, I saw Emmie had a scoop of flour in her hand. I gave her a confused look and she chucked the flour at Steven, who was turned around at the time.
"Did you just throw flour at me?" He asked and looked at me.
"Maybe, maybe not," I said with a smile, wanting to see his reaction.
"Oh it's on." He paused for a moment before grabbing a handful of flour and chucking it at my face. I wiped the four of my eyes before quickly grabbing two eggs and smashing them on both sides of his head.
Then we both completely forgot about the pancakes and started to chuck all the ingredients at each other.
"This is so going on youtube," Emmie said to herself as she recorded all of it. I glanced at Steven and we both nodded before dumping a bowl of flour over Emmie's head and then smashing an egg on it to top it off.
And for the next thirty minutes, we had an all out food fight until all the eggs and flour was gone. I sat down on a stool next to Emmie and Steven stood on the other side of her.
"We missed this Laur," Steven said.
