*Lauren's POV*

Steven was outside talking to the police while I sat in the back seat of my car with Emmie in my arms.

"When are they gonna leave?" Emmie asked while yawning. I turned my attention to the cameras and press standing outside the car, trying to get our attention.

"I don't know honey," I sighed and pulled her head to my chest. "Just ignore them."

My eyes glanced out the window when I noticed Steven pushing through the crowd to get to the car. He quickly opened up the car door and got into the drivers side. A second later, I watched as Steven sighed and rested his head in his hands.

"Are we gonna be okay?" Emmie asked, worry clear in her voice.

Steven picked his head up and turned around to comfort his daughter. "Of course we are, Em."

Once he started the car, I spoke up. "I guess we can just go stay at my house until we figure this all out." Steven nodded and mouthed 'I love you' through the rear view mirror.

The whole car ride felt like a drag. Nobody said a word, the radio wasn't on, the lights were all off which made the car completely dark besides the passing cars headlights shining through the windows. It was obvious that no-one wanted to say anything.

When we finally pulled into the driveway and got inside, I spoke up. "I've got a couple extra sets of clothes for Steven in the guest room for some weird reason but none or Emmie's. We kinda smell like smoke."

The two went to the guest room to change and I went to my bedroom. I grabbed a new
t-shirt and pajama pants and changed out of my dirty, smoke smelling clothes. Right after I had tossed them in the hamper, there was a knock at the door.

"Come in!" I said from across the room and the door slowly opened.

"Lauren?" Emmie's soft voice whimpered. She lingered for a moment in the doorway, leaning against the wall while wearing one of Steven's shirts that was basically a dress on her. When I looked closely, I could tell she was about to cry and her lip was trembling.

I sat down on my bed and reached my arms out to her. Within seconds, she was in my lap and hugging onto me tightly.

"Lauren....what are me and my dad gonna do now? Where are we gonna go?" She asked.

I rubbed my hand gently up and down her back. "Don't worry about that, Em. You can stay here with me as long as you guys need to."

"Really?" She asked with a sniffle.

I lifted her chin up so she was lookin at me in the eye. "Really. I would never kick you or your dad out." She gave me a cute smile and I kissed her forehead.

"Can.....can I sleep with you and my dad tonight? I'm don't wanna sleep alone after what happened," she asked quietly, scared that I would say no.

"You don't even have to ask, Emmie. Of course you can," I replied and Steven walked in.

I couldn't help but watch Steven and Emmie from across the room. They were just so close and so adorable together.

"Now I want you to get some sleep okay? Just try and forget about what happened tonight so you can get a good nights sleep," he said while tucking in Emmie.

"M'kay," she replied with a yawn. "I love you daddy."

"I love you too." He kissed her head and turned off the nightstand light next to her. I had to admit, the cuteness made me want to have a baby so bad. "I'll be right back."

At that he left the bedroom with me following close behind. He paused once he was out the door, leaning against the opposite wall of the bedroom. I faced his and intertwined my fingers with his.

"That was probably one of the cutest things I've ever seen," I said quietly while rocking back and forth on my heels.

He chuckled a bit with a smile before pulling me close by my hands and leaning in to kiss me. His nose gently brushed against mine before our lips connected.

I hummed softly and pulled away with a smile. After untangling our hands, Steven wrapped his arms around me, swaying back and forth a bit. When I let out a yawn, he smiled and took my hand again, leading me back into the bedroom.

*Steven's POV*

I didn't want to sleep that night. All I wanted to do was make sure Emmie and Lauren were safe. I was on my back with them both snuggled into each of my sides.

My head turned to look at them both before I kissed their foreheads. "I love you bother so much," I whispered, careful not to wake them. "So much."
