The whole town started to talk about the police station which will start operating in a few days. Some of the town folks found it a good thing. There was a police station in Harrisonburg and even though there were some patrols in the area, they weren't often. Well, some others were not so excited about it.
The first police officer came in Thursday morning. He was a forty five mature man with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was tall and muscular. There was a distinctive beard on his chin. He was going to be the chief officer. His name is Jonathan Gale. I went with the major to welcome him.
He seems a nice and polite man. He is smiling all the time and he doesn't seem to be dissatisfied that he was transferred in this isolated place. The major promised to guide him in town and at the fields. They are going to go to Eanglden and Redville, too. Mr. Jackson introduced me to him. I was also a state officer. I was a well fare agent. The policeman can't hide his surprise. The major smiles.
-"I will tell you the whole story drinking beer." He said and the other man smiles, too.
-"I hope that we can work together in harmony, Mrs. Mars." He says and gives me his hand to handshake. I also give him my hand.
The other two police officers came the next day. They were younger. Timothy Straw is a twenty six years old young man with short black hair and brown eyes. He is relatively tall and thin. Stacey Donald is beautiful young woman about twenty four years old. She has long brown curly hair and hazel brown eyes. She has a very beautiful body. I met the two of them and I can feel that they are good people. I was a little insecure because of my past with bad cops. However, I feel that those three will help to improve the area.
Mr. Jackson took them to guide them in town and out of it. I returned to the library. I didn't stop my job there. It was a peaceful shelter for me. Steven and the others came at the same time after school. Steven gave me the names of the richer kids in Green Hill. He was also watching Simon's movements. He is not causing troubles. I think, it is a good thing.
At Monday morning, I visited the police station. I came a little late so the police officers could adapt to their new environment. I sat opposite of Mr. Gale.
-"I bring your first case." I say and he smiles.
I start to explain everything about the Simon Spencer and my suspicion that he is in a gang from Harrisonburg. I also tell him about the suspicious movements of his father. I tell him that even though the boy must be punished, this should be with my terms. I plead with him to be distinctive and not rough with him. He smiles.
-"Mrs. Mars, I think that you are a good person. That boy is lucky that someone is thinking about him. Don't worry. I will do my best so he won't ruin his future."
-"Thank you so much."
When I returned to the library, I felt relieved. Now, I could work at ease.
In the evening, Alice informed me that she was going to work about two to three times a week at school as a counselor. I find it a good idea. It is harder for kids to come to New Leaf, but if it is at school, it is easier. She is really good at her work. She is perfect.
-"Now we need only to wait, right?" she says while drinking a cup of chocolate and brings me one.
-"Yes, but waiting is really stressful."
-"Addie, I think that you need to talk with Simon. Even if they catch the gang members, that kid will lose the shelter that he found himself. He needs to know that we are with his side."
She is right but I think that Simon is really angry with the world and he doesn't think that he hurts others and even if he knows it, he doesn't care. I must think of something.
