Architect of paradise (PART I: Out of the Ruins)

28. Wounds and ointments

     Mrs. Locust stayed at the clinic about three days. Then, she got ready to travel to Washington so she can meet her grandchild and prepare the funeral for her daughter. Her son in law didn't have parents so there was no one to take care of these things. Of course, Mrs. Locust didn't go alone. Mr. Jackson and his wife went with her.

Now I must welcome the new doctor and the nurse. Mr. Jackson told me the details about their accommodation and their needs so I was prepared. They came at the same time. It seems that they know each other. They were together in the Doctors without Borders. It was remarkable that they were members of that organization.

I was waiting them at the entrance of the town. They were driving in a jeep. Dr. Morgan was tall and muscular. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was also a little tanned but it is to be expected. I think that he is around thirty five. Miss Reed seems younger. She has a juicy sexy body and a very beautiful face. She has long black hair and light brown eyes, like honey. She was also tanned.

-"Welcome to Green Hill. Mr. Jackson had an emergency and couldn't come. My name is Adelaide Mars, the librarian. I will be your guide for today." I introduce myself. They smile at me gently and I guide them to their new house.

They are going to stay in the local motel. Mr. Barton agreed with a logical rent for his two new tenants. When they settle in their new place, I guide them to the clinic. They didn't think that it was so small. However, it had all the basic medicine and equipment. I inform them that I was a temporary nurse because of my seminars in first aid. I guide Dr. Morgan with the paperwork and the way Dr. Herman was working. Dr. Herman would come later to help them adapt.

-"Miss Mars, can I ask a question?" Dr. Morgan asks.

-"Of course."

-"Before I come here, I did a research for this place. I know this is an isolated place in the countryside, but I found out that in this forgotten place, a new charity organization was founded. Is it true?"

-"Yes, it is. New Leaf is the name of that organization. "

-"Oh my goodness. How chivalrous and noble of the founding members!" Miss Reed shouts.

-"We'd like to meet them and talk to them. Maybe we can help." Dr. Morgan says.

-"Then, I will set up a date of meeting." I say and leave.

Before I can get inside the library, Mrs. Parker stops me. I was surprised at first. Then I welcome her inside. I make some tea for her but I think that she worries for something. At first, I thought that she wanted to talk to me about Daniel. However, the main topic was something sudden.

-"Daniel talked to me about you. You are a good person. I am good friends with Claris Falcon and she always talks to me about you and your organization. She even told me about your big project. I think it is a very good idea and for that reason I wanted to warn you."

-"Warn me?"

-"Yes. Two days ago, Jimmy Lake visited me and asked me if I wanted to sell my property. I am a lonely woman and Daniel doesn't seem to want to put to use our piece of land."

-"I don't understand. What have that to do with me?"

-"There are some gossips that a big businessman wants to buy some land in the area so he can build a steel factory."

-"What? This place is going to be a natural park. If a factory opens up, the area will be in trouble." I shout surprised.

I know that most of the people here are poor and this is an opportunity for them. However, they are going to destroy the beauty and the purity of this place. I found a way to lighten their burdens and I need them to be more patient.
