35. Selfishness

I just received the blueprints of the natural park the way the contractor will be making it. My eyes scan the whole plan and I can't believe it. This is really helpful because I now know how I should move to begin the second step of the project and that is the development of the economy. I need to find some businessmen and to help the locals to open their own businesses I need to collect founds and help the local economy and enterprising. I need the information that Mrs. Locust can provide me and of course Mrs. Ernest and Mr. Rosewalt from their towns.

Founds! Where can I find them? Music Avenue is something that just started and it will take time to bring in some income. I need a faster way and the only option is the classical charity. I think I need to travel again. I have two months in my disposal to take care of it.

In the meantime, Alice left on my office some reports. After her visits to the families of Green Hill, Eagleden and Redville, she prepared a complete report of the families that can be foster families for orphan children or children in need for stable environments. Ten families in total was the magical number. I was really happy with this. Those families were willing to take care of children in need with nothing in return. This was another reason to go to the central department of Well Fare and in big city.

Before I leave I have to speak to the other members to collect information for me. I don't know how many days I will be away but I trust them with their jobs.

When I talked to Daniel, I saw his dissatisfaction. I was already away for some days before. He didn't like it and he doesn't like it now. He was irritated and angry. I tried to explain to him that it was something important and it was only for a few days.

-"Lately, you neglect me all the time."

-"Daniel, the organization is my responsibility. I have to take care of it."

-"What about me?"

-"New Leaf is important for the people and for me."

-"Then, I am not important to you?"

-"What are you saying? Of course, you are important. It is only a few days, Daniel."

-"No, it is not. It is not only the trip, Addie. You don't pay attention to me."

-"Give me some time, Daniel. This is a very important project. When everything calms down, we will have all the time together."

-"Fine!!!" He shouts angrily and leaves. I feel really bad. I beat my lips nervously. My heart beats so fast. I am afraid of his rejection but my work is really important. I tighten my fists and my resolve.

-"Damn!!!"

-"Daniel, calm down!!!"

-"I can't. She decides herself for everything. She doesn't talk to me at all. She neglects me and she finds more important her work."

-"You are really arrogant, huh?" Tony says.

-"Don't tell me that you are with her side!" I yell at him.

-"Daniel, her work is something important for other people. You can say that she saves lives. I know that this is your first serious relationship but the world doesn't round around you."

-"It should be!"

-"You are unreasonable."

Samantha comes over to bring more beers.

-"What happened to you and you are so grumpy?" She asks.

-"Don't ask." Tony says. Samantha furrows her eyebrows.

-"Love problems again?"

-"Yep."

Samantha smiles to me cunningly.
