a clade of hyrogriffs decided to trade in their flight capabilities to effectively glide through the water, similarly to what happened with penguins. whiskers cover some parts of their bodies, making them highly sensitive to small changes in the water. their fur became smooth and oily, and their barely visible tail along with remnants of their compressed fur became a great structure in maintaining balance in the water. they're quick and agile, able to dodge most threats if they see them first. the largest species can weigh up to 150 pounds, with the smallest weighing up to 75. without the restrictions of having to fly along with the weight of the water being able to support their weight, they can reach massive sizes in the future. they mainly eat fish in the water but won't pass up anything that wanders too far into the water.
