the dire hystrager is a species of hystrager specifically adapted for hunting megafauna.  their top and serrated bottom incisors can leave fatal wounds, and their claws are extremely massive when unsheathed. you may have thought that the main megafauna hunters would be a xenofelimorph, which would make them basically a hyrax sabertooth-cat, but the outcome was much more surprising.
