As I continued dancing awkwardly stood there. "Uh, you--you want a drink?" Simon yelled over the music "Yeah!" I replied while still dancing. I looked over and saw the same spiky-haired man from before staring at me. I stopped dancing as he moved his eyes toward a woman dressed in a white lace dress who tilted her head and he walked in the direction she nodded to. I moved closer to the lit-up railing where the man and woman met. I then watched as the snake bracelet on the woman's forearm began to come to life. I slightly gasped at the sight. Out of nowhere, the man opened the button on her dress to reveal the symbol and as soon as he saw it, he pushed her shoulder and turned around. Without missing a beat, the woman flung out her arm, and the once jewelry now living snake wrapped around the man's throat and pulled him to the woman as he struggled. I anxiously looked around and when I looked back a man with blond hair and a hood on, walked out. I watched as he unsheathed a large knife and grazed his fingers over the blade. Then, the blonde man walked up to the man with spiked hair and slashed the knife at his throat, slitting it open. I shrieked in fear and covered my mouth as the blonde turned to face me.

Simon came running up behind me and grabbed my shoulder as the rest of their group ran into the shadows. "Courtney, what did you see?" Simon asked. "Did you not see that?" I asked Simon as my gaze remained on the blonde man. "We need to leave." I said as I began running out of the club "Courtney, nothing happened!" Simon said as we reached the exit "I know what I saw! They killed the guy that let us into the club!" I yelled, "Did you drink something?" Simon asked, trying to be rational. "No--" I began "You know, I heard sometimes they pump the air vents with some stuff so people can have a good time." Simon stuck his arm up for a cab. I began speaking incoherently "Okay then how are you fine? Did you not breathe in the air?" I asked, "Let's just go home!" Simon said as a cab pulled up. When I was dropped off at my car, I drove home and when I opened the door, I saw my mother asleep on the couch. I put all of my belongings down and covered my mom up with a nearby blanket.

I walked up to my room and just plopped down onto the seat at my desk and began drawing but fell asleep. The next morning I woke up and went over to my window, yawning as I opened it. When I looked at my hand I saw residue from the oil crayons on it. I turned around and saw my room covered with papers that had that symbol on them. I gasped as I looked all over my room and saw no wall or piece of furniture missing a paper with the symbol on it. I began to rip the papers off of my wall and shove them into an empty bag. When some were ripped down, I walked into the kitchen with my bag, grabbed my coat, and put it on as my mother entered the room. "You okay?" she asked "Yeah. Fine." I replied, "You've been sleeping all day." my mother replied "You didn't come home till late last night." she spoke, "Yeah, well I'm home. Okay?" I snapped as I slung the bag filled the papers over my shoulder. I reached for the doorknob and began twisting it but was stopped by my mother speaking "Well you can't go!" she said and I turned to face her "I've sold another painting and I wanted to celebrate with you." she smiled and shrugged "To what? Your one buyer? Who is this guy anyway? He probably only buys your stuff because he's into you. I'm sure you'll  just string him along like you do with Luke." I turned back around.

"You really wanna have that conversation?" she asked and I sighed and turned around while speaking "What's that supposed to mean?" I questioned. "Simon." she looked at me and I scoffed in disgust "He's like my brother." I said bluntly, "Are you sure he feels that way?" my mother asked. "Okay well I'm gonna go--" I pointed to the door and began opening it but my mother lunged forward and closed the door "No, no, no, you can't." she slammed the door shut and leaned against it "This is ridiculous." I rolled my eyes "Where are you going?" she asked, "I'm just going to Java Jones--" I said before the door burst open to reveal Simon. "Oh, Jesus." my mother exclaimed "Oh, nope. Just me." Simon waved "Come on, Simon." I began walking but my mother grabbed my wrist and Simon didn't realize because he started walking away but turned back. "There's something I need to talk to you about." my mother looked me in the eyes and I looked away at Simon who was standing in the hallway. I yanked my arm away from her and walked out of the room "We can talk about this later." I said as I stormed off "Bye Mrs. Fray." Simon waved to my mom.

Simon and I arrived at the coffee shop and I pulled the papers out of my bag and scattered them all over the table. "Look, suddenly I'm drawing all these symbols and I have no idea what they are." I told Simon as he looked at the papers. "I don't know, I think I'm going out of my mind." I looked at him. "Y'know, maybe you're like the guy in Close Encounters. Everybody thought he was paranoid and--" Simon said as I turned around to look out of the window. Simon's words began to fade as I saw the same blonde from the club, staring at me through the window.
