Donghyuck:

It's the next day and I was ready to drop dead when I receive a notification on my phone. Said notification informs me that my dear mother just texted me. The text was a 'suggestion' for me to visit my best friend, Lee Jeno.

I groan at the text. I'm definitely not in the mood to see the asshole but I know better than to ignore my parents' 'suggestion'.

I take my phone, wallet, and keys, stashing them inside my pockets before screaming "I'm leaving!" out in the open for anyone that cares to hear before opening the front door and stepping out. I take a deep breath, enjoying the feeling of freedom before stomping over to my car and driving off to the known location.

'Donghyuck, if you have a car, why don't you ever drive to school?' Oh you silly audience, I prefer to have my driver take me before they pick me up from the cafe after my shift. I'm too tired to think after work, to drive afterward? I would have caused ten accidents by now.

As I slowly drive to my location, I hum to the music playing on the radio as I tap my fingers on the steering wheel, procrastinating as much as possible. I stop when I need to before resuming at a speed just below the limit. Cars honk at me once or twice for my slow driving but I decided to ignore them. My day couldn't worsen no matter what, I wouldn't let it.

When I got to the mansion, I huff and put my head on the steering wheel, banging it a couple of times there as I curse my life. You know, just the normal.

I decide to man up soon enough though, I straighten up and look at the house with dread before thinking no more and stepping out of the car. I then walk to the front door where I ring the doorbell. I turn my head down at the ground and kick some pebbles as I wait, which wasn't long.

I bring my head up with a smile upon hearing the sound of the door opening. "I came to see Jeno?" I say to the maid that opened up.

They must've recognized me because they instantly ushered me in. "I'm sure Mr. Lee would be okay with you going up. Would you like to be escorted?" They ask with a sweet smile.

I instantly shake my head, "That's alright, thank you."

I don't stick around much longer as I decide to get my visit over with as soon as possible. I go up two steps at a time to get upstairs, each more and more eager to get to my destination before I had the liberty of leaving.

When I get to his room, I have the dignity to knock twice. I wait and wait some more, hoping that the door would open before deciding to turn the knob and walk inside. Not like I've never done that before.

Slowly, I made my way inside. "Hello?" I call out, frowning. He's supposed to be here, the maid said...

That's when I hear the sound of a doorknob jingling which made me quickly divert my gaze from the bed and to the bathroom's entrance. In all his half-naked glory, there came Lee Jeno. I would have stared at his abs and drooled if it weren't for the very obvious bruise there.

"Are you okay?!" I exclaim before I can stop myself.

He groans and that's when I finally see his face which was equally busted. I wince at the sight. "Why are you here?" He asks in an annoyed tone, nothing new.

"I asked a question first," I retort seriously, tracing each bruise and scratch on his face in my mind. I wouldn't admit it out loud, but I was worried for him. I know he often gets into times but usually, he would come out of them unharmed. Without thinking, I extend my hand to put on his face. "Are you okay?" I question again, looking at the bruise on his cheekbone rather than his eyes or elsewhere.

He sighs but doesn't make a move to remove my hand. "I'm fine. Now, will you tell me why you're here?" He says harshly. I finally make eye contact with him just to see the glare that he was throwing me.

I quickly take my hand back, dropping it to my side. I roll my eyes. "My mom asked me to come. She suggested that I come to hang out with you."

"You could have just said you came without actually coming," he tells as if it were the most obvious thing as he walks to his wardrobe to take out a plain black tanktop which he quickly wears.

"You know they ask the maids. They wouldn't lie to my parents of yours." I respond as I plop myself on the sofa.

Lee Jeno

I watch Donghyuck sprawled on my couch; legs and arms spread widely and eyes closed, his whole body relaxed.

I would have thought he would have noticed something else when he saw my naked torso but all he was able to see was the bruise I had received a couple of days ago. There were other scars there. Scars from past battles and I was just glad he didn't notice them because seeing them would just lead to questions. Questions that I didn't want to answer.

"Are you really okay?" He asks softly, taking me out of my train of thoughts.

I focus my gaze on him to see him looking directly at me, wide awake and with concern etched onto the look he was giving me. I stare at him for a while more, my arms crossed over my chest. Was he really worrying for me? It was hard to believe but when I looked into his brown eyes, there was nothing but genuine worriedness.

It annoyed me a little. On the other part... I was feeling something else.

"I said I'm fine," I reply sharply.

He sighs. "You don't have to always be fine." He set his eyes on me and looks at me as if he knew everything. Yet, we both knew he didn't.

Lee Donghyuck

Will you call me crazy if I said that my heart skipped a beat while looking into Jeno's eyes?

I clear my throat. "I'll get going," I tell him before standing up and leaving without looking back.

I definitely would.
