Sorry for the late update... was lots busy. But chapter 11 is here. ^_^

**********************************************************************

Few weeks had passed in a jiffy. The days were turning colder and colder. Going out wearing shorts was almost impossible. Thanksgiving came and went and everyone was in a holiday fervour. My crush for Nathan was blossoming just the way our friendship was. Rachel and Dylan were now officially a couple after 3 dates, a few failed phone calls, lots of stammering and finally the words, almost all of this coming from Dylan.

We all were hanging out at my place. It was a lazy Saturday afternoon. We were sitting in my front porch. Nathan, Emma and Rachel were sitting on the swing. Dylan was on the floor with Ashley and me leaning on either side of him. Robert was stretched out on the porch as if he owned it. We all were simply lazing around, discussing the release of latest Game of Thrones episode. I noticed that Nathan was unusually quiet.

"Nate? You alright? You seem pretty quiet today?" I asked. "Yeah. I too noticed. A penny for your thought bro." Dylan chimed in.

"Oh its nothing." He sighed. "Come on Nate. Spit it out. What's troubling you?" Rachel and Emma spoke at the same time.

Nathan looked around, took a deep breath and spoke, "Me and my girlfriend are celebrating our 9 month anniversary today. And I just found out she won't be able to make it because her family is going out to dinner."

"Oooooh, Nathan has a girlfriend!" Robert drawled, which surprised us as we thought he was asleep.

Nathan's words just kept ringing around my head.

He has a girlfriend.

I got up, "I need to go guys, I'll be back. Just give me a moment. I have to make an important call." I excused myself and left the porch so that no one could see the pool of tears forming in my eyes, or my shaking hands. I went out through the back and climbed my favourite tree. It was my hiding place and I had managed to make a platform and hide some books there. I climbed onto it and the tears began to flow. Suddenly I heard someone climbing up. Dylan's blonde head popped up. He simply climbed in silently and gathered me into his arms.

"Shh Kay, its okay. Stop crying. You will find someone else. Don't worry about it. Just move on."

"Why does this always happen to me? Why doesn't the guy I like ever like me back? First it was James, now its Nathan. I'm losing hope in this whole concept Dylan, seriously. I'm never going to like a guy ever again. I'm done." I was sobbing in his arms, practically inconsolable. Dylan simply held me till my sobs had turned to deep breaths. And then, a thought suddenly struck me.

"Why did you come? Not that I have a problem, but I had expected Rachel or Em to come. And secondly, how do you know this place?" I looked at him in surprise. Dylan simply chuckled, "Well, you had told me about your secret hiding place the last time and considering you have a short term memory, im not surprised you don't remember." I almost shoved him off the tree in protest. He continued, "I came in saying I needed a drink. Nathan is not stupid. If Em or Rach had come after you, he would have found something fishy. So I came here. And please don't tell me you didn't want me to come." He looked at me with a fake pained expression that set me giggling. "And now she laughs. Come on princess, go wash your face" he said. "First of all, you have girlfriend. And she is my best friend. So keep your flirting to a minimum playboy" I retorted giving him a shove. He simply chuckled and we went in back together.
