"Look who we have here. It is the little slut without her boyfriend." Tiffany was cooing at me with a smirk on her face.

Tiffany was the school bitch, as you might have guessed. Blonde hair with pink highlights (eww!), manicured nails with bright pink nail polish, tons of makeup. She looked like a walking Barbie doll. Her clothes left very little to imagination. There was a rumour that she had already slept with most of the Seniors and half of the Juniors as well. She was popular and hot, but really fickle minded. She had a group of cronies that tried to imitate her every move.

I rolled my eyes exasperated and bored. She continued, "Little dear Kaylen couldn't get her true love back in middle school so she sold herself before others could get a chance." She was cackling like a witch. Anger boiled up inside me and I fought to control it. She could not drag James in between this.

Minor backtrack.

James was really popular in middle school and he was unfortunate to have Tiffany living two houses away. Tiffany had always tried flirting with him. But he has refused her advances. Tiffany convinced him into being "just friends" and to my utmost shock, they grew pretty close. I wasn't jealous. No ways. I was still James' best friend. But Tiffany had heard rumours about my crush on him and had held that to blackmail and mentally torture me.

Back to the present.

James and I had sorted it out. She could not dare drag him back. I simply glared at her in order to hide me true despair.

"Jealous much Tiffany? That the so-called slut, aka me, has the hottest guy in the school as my boyfriend, instead of the actual slut, aka you? If at all, I won't be surprised if I find you selling yourself anytime soon." I smirked as her mouth dropped open. Ha! I liked my own comeback.

"How dare you speak to me like that bitch? I do not have any interest in him whatsoever. Where did you find him? Passed out drunk on the streets like you? Or is he some beggar you picked up because you were desperate to find a boyfriend? I have no interest in your filth."

That was it. Insult me, I will live with it. Insult my friends or my boyfriend and I will set you alight like firecrackers.

My voice dropped so cold, I thought I felt the room temperature drop down a notch. "You can say anything against me, I don't care. But one more word against my boyfriend and you are done for."

We were glaring at each other when a voice called out, "Kaylen? What is going on?" I whipped around to see Jon walking towards me. My anger turned off like a switch but he must have seen my expression.

"You okay?" he whispered. I nodded and we were just about to leave when he noticed Tiffany. "You are the same girl who sat next to me in English right?" My face darkened but I quickly morphed my expression. Jon, completely oblivious to my anger continued, "I am so sorry, I forgot your name. I am Jonathan by the way." He smiled his signature smile and all my anger melted. Tiffany took his offered hand very innocently. "How come a guy like you knows a girl like Kaylen?" She said that subtly masking the contempt in her voice. Now, if Jonathan understood that or no, he did not show it. He continued speaking with his signature smile plastered on his face. "I live next door you see. I knew her for a month before I joined here. Her parents helped with my admission since my parents live in California."
