I was feverish. I felt like I was burning, and when I tried to groan, nothing came out. The part where the most pain is was my shoulder, where my curse mark is.

Ssssssss

Kasumi dear, it's been a while.

Who's that?

Don't you remember? I'm the one that gave you all of that power.

Orochimaru...

Yesssss...now it's time for me to take both you and Sasuke. Come, my dear. Come to grandpa...

You're not my grandfather!

I gasped and sat up, frightening poor Ty-lee. She had a wet towel in her hands, and was in the process of placing it on my head.

"Ah!" she flew back. I flinched and held my curse mark. From the corner of my eye, I could see black smoke drifting out from it. I looked around.

"Where's the river?" I asked. Ty-lee kneeled next to me and put a hand to my forehead.

"You're burning up. It's not well for you to walk-"

I grabbed her hand, stopping her in the middle of her sentence. "Where. Is. It," I growled. She gulped and pointed to my right.

"Just keep on walking then you'll find it."

Wordlessly, I climbed to my feet and began running towards the river with newfound energy. My mind was all jumbled up, but there was one thing I was sure of. I was afraid to see my curse mark.

I was about five feet from the river, and for each step I took, I found it hard to continue. I breathed in and out and quickly pulled down my collar, staring at my reflection. My heart sunk when I saw just my curse mark, no seal. I collapsed down to my knees and buried my head in my hands. Now what do I do?

Stop, I told myself as I stood up. You will not let this thing control you. First off...find Sasuke.

I breathed in and out and concentrated on finding Sasuke's chakra signature. When I found it, I immediately raced over to where he was, passing Ty-lee on the way.

"Where are you going?" she called out to me.

"To find Sasuke! Stay there, the battle will be big!"

I couldn't care less whether she understood me or not, or even heard me. Right now I'm concentrating on finding Sasuke and that snake that caused me so much pain. I can't let him do to Sasuke what he did to me.

My eyes landed on the battle that's taking place. Sasuke was hunched over, his hand clutching is shoulder in pain. My heart sunk as I knew immediately what that meant.

I was too late.

Sasuke collapsed on the ground and Sakura rushed over to help him. My eyes roamed the area for another one of my teammates, heaving a sigh of relief when I spotted Naruto at the base of a tree. Even if he was unconscious, I was still relieved to see that he was alive, and that Orochimaru hadn't taken pity and killed him automatically. That would've crushed me.

"Kasumi, how nice of you to join us," Orochimaru smirked without turning around, opting to keep his eyes on Sasuke pained figure. Orochimaru was still wearing his fake skin, though part of his real face showed due to the fake skin being ripped there. I shivered in disgust, though quickly scolded myself soon afterwards.

Now's not the time to be getting the frights! I told myself. I leaped down in front of Sakura and slightly tilted my head towards her direction.

"Sakura, please, take Naruto and get out of here," I whispered/pleaded.

"Kasumi," she sighed in relief. Tears leaked out of her eyes, and I silently cursed Orochimaru for hurting all of my teammates. "What about you? You can't last against him! I saw how he fights...he's brutal."
