(Kasumi's POV)
I woke up in a sweat, only to wince immediately afterwards. I looked down at my body to see it covered in bandages. What happened?
Everything came flowing back to me, and I groaned. How could I be so foolish? Defeating Orochimaru...tch, there's no way I could do that. I would die. Heck, I would've died if he hadn't taken mercy on me and left when he could've killed me.
Something hit me. I gasped and covered my mouth with my hand as tears threatened to flow out of my eyes.
I failed to keep Itachi's promise. Itachi-kun, I'm so sorry, I thought as I clenched my fists. Sasuke got the curse mark, something that'll give him a taste of what Orochimaru can give him. Surely Sasuke will go over to Orochimaru if he sees what he can get. He's too hung up on revenge to even think straight.
I was too caught up in my thoughts to even register that someone was waving their hand in my face.
"Hey, Kasumi."
Startled, I looked up to see the worried face of Ty-lee. She was covered in bandages, but otherwise looked very energetic. She smiled at me.
"Good, I finally got your attention. C'mon, I think you had enough rest."
"What day is it?" I asked her. She looked up in thought and counted on her fingers.
"Well, yesterday we were two days early, meaning it was just the third day. So now, it's the fourth day. After tomorrow, the second part of the chunin exams begins."
"I see," I sighed. I turned over in the uncomfortable bed and swung my feet over the edge.
"Do you need help?" Ty-lee asked. I shook my head, trying my best to hide the painful expression that's threatening to burst at any second.
"All right," she said doubtfully. She pointed over to the small kitchen area located on the corner in front of me, just to the right of the door. "If you're hungry, there's food there. Then you see that door over there? That's the bathroom. If you do end up using it, tell me so I can wash your clothes."
"Okay," I sighed as I stood up, making my way into the small kitchen and grabbed a little energy bar. I nibbled on it while my eyes wandered over the blinding white room, just like in hospitals. Honestly, I actually don't want to be here. Hopefully they'll allow me to walk around.
I finished the energy bar and walked over to the bathroom, on the way shouting out to Ty-lee to take my clothes. I threw the clothes out into the room and shut the bathroom door. From then I proceeded to clean myself of the blood and dirt that I had got in the forest. I had finished just when Ty-lee knocked on the door and gave me my clothes back. The blood and dirt somehow didn't stain the white kimono shirt, something I found odd. Shrugging, I slipped on my clothes and exited the bathroom.
"Here," Ty-lee tossed me a box. I caught it and looked down at it, seeing that it was a health kit.
"You know, we're lucky," Ty-lee told me as I disinfected my wounds, wincing as I did so. "The contestants that come on a later day don't have any time to rest nor heal."
"Makes sense," I commented and wrapped some bandages tightly around the wounds. From then I took a little section of the bandages and tied my shoulder length hair up. I took out a kunai from my pouch and sliced the hair above the bandage, making Ty-lee gasp.
