(Kasumi's POV)

I'm currently laying down on my bed while reading a book. So far, I haven't cried. Yes, I get really emotional when something tragic happens during a book. Nothing has happened so far, but I know there's going to be something horrible happening soon. Why must all my favorite fictional characters die?

A clap of thunder and flash of light startled me out of my thoughts. I looked to my left and saw rain drops pattering against my window. The tree branches are shaking rapidly, indicating strong winds.

'A storm,' I thought. Another clap of thunder sounded, this time louder, making me drop my book from surprise. I sighed and reached down, feeling around for the book. When I felt it, the lights flickered. I narrowed my eyes and retracted my hand. After a couple of seconds, I stood up straight and stared at nothing. The lights flickered again, making me quickly reach into my nightstand drawer and pull out a flashlight. Turning it on, I was relieved to see that the batteries aren't dead.

The lights flickered again, then darkness engulfed me. I pointed my flashlight around my room as I got up and walked over to the window. It's quite normal for a power outage to occur during a storm, but this one seems strange. I stared out my window, looking for any signs of oddity. Something flashed in my sight, but disappeared as quickly as it came. I should go investigate, but it would be crazy to go outside with weather like this. Nevertheless, I found myself walking down the steps, passing a sleeping Ty-lee and Rosie.

I unlocked and opened the door, bracing myself. Almost immediately, the strong winds made me lose my footing. I regained it fast enough before I could fall to the muddy ground. My hair and clothes are all soaked, but I paid no attention to it. Instead, I focused on the transparent silhouette in front of me. It looks like a woman's figure, but I can't really tell. It's back is to me, so I can't really see the face.

It started to move, and it's fast. I tried running after it, but I'm too slow. Can you believe it? I pumped chakra into my feet, making me run faster. The ghost-like figure is now a couple feet away from me. It keeps on moving, and I keep following. My house is probably way behind me now. No worries. I know my way around the area.

The ghost-like figure suddenly stops and turns around. I gasped and rubbed my eyes, wanting to make sure the water isn't disrupting my vision. After blinking rapidly, I stared with disbelief at the transparent figure in front of me. My mouth moved up and down like a fish, but wouldn't utter a single sound.

The ghost-like figure is a woman with long brown hair and grey eyes. She's tall, but about three inches shorter than dad. Her vibe screams "sweet but dangerous", which is just like her. Her lips, as usual, are are stretched into a small warm smile. The kind of warm that can unfreeze any cold heart. It makes sense. She did it to dad.

I finally got my mouth working, but cursed myself for uttering only one word.

"Mom?"

She smiled at me and beckoned my forward with one finger. My feet moved on its own, taking the rest of my body with it. When I got close enough, mom placed her palm to my forehead, and I suddenly blacked out.

It's dark. I don't know where I am, but I know it's dark. There's nothing here, and my voice echo's whenever I try to speak. Suddenly, a bright light flashed in my eyes, making me cover them with my forearm. When the light died down, the scenery was replaced with a beautiful meadow, complete with a lake on my right. Mom's standing in front of me, wearing her usual smile. She's no longer transparent.

"Hey sweetie. How've you been?" she asked me. My eyes teared up and I launched myself towards her. She caught me with surprise.

"I've missed you," I told her, my words muffled to do the fact that my face is buried in her chest. She reached up and ran her hands through my hair, comforting me.
