(Kasumi's POV)

The fights continued on. It was Gaara versus Lee, and as expected, Gaara won. Lee was in terrible shape, and I was extremely saddened to hear that he could never be a shinobi again.

I wonder if Tsunade-obaasan can help him, I thought.

Next was Dosu verses Choji. Dosu won that fight with ease. Now we're all lined up. They pulled out a box and asked us to pull out one paper. I stuck my hand in after a couple of people and pulled out number three. When all of the competitors were finished, Ibiki pulled out a chart. He wrote down our numbers quickly and showed us the chart.

"The numbers you pulled will correspond with this chart. Number one will fight number two, three will fight four, and so on."

I paled instantly, shifting my eyes towards the discretely smirking Kabuto. He's my opponent.

I need to train harder to beat him, I thought.

"Take a good look at who you're fighting," Ibiki told us. The competitors all studied the chart before Ibiki rolled it up and stuffed it in his trench coat.

"The last part of the exam will begin in the next month," The Third announced. He was interrupted by Naruto.

"What's the meaning of this?!" he exclaimed. "We continue on with the exam with no breaks, and then all of a sudden we have an entire month to wait?! Why not continue now?!"

"Why can't we just get it over and done with?" I asked calmly.

"You are all obviously tired," the Third raised his voice slightly. "You will be given one month for training and resting. And, a time period of that month allows us to relay the results of the preliminaries to the other lands. That's all I will say."

If one month is all I get, I thought, then I have no time to waste. I need to find her.

"Now, you're all dismissed."

As everybody filed out, I walked towards the Third and bowed respectfully.

"Lord Third, I have a request."

"And what is it, Kasumi?" he asked as he stood from his seat. I walked along with him, nervously twiddling my fingers.

"Um...I would like permission to leave the village for a month to train," I murmured. He raised an eyebrow.

"And why is that? You don't want to train here?"

"You see...the person that I want to train me is not here in the village. It'll probably take a long time to find her, and I want to do that as soon as possible."

"I understand. But, who is this person you're looking for?"

I smiled. "Your student, Tsunade-obaasan."

His eyes widened. "Tsunade? Well, I can understand that you want to find her as soon as possible, but you do know that she can be a bit...harsh."

"I can handle her," I smirked. "I know what she's like. So, can I?"

He chuckled and ruffled up my hair. "You may."

I squealed in excitement and bowed. "Thank you! I'll see you in a month!"

With that, I raced out of the arena, passing some confused competitors on the way. I ran as fast as I could towards my house and began to pack my things. Extra clothing, medical supplies, weapons, and food. After, I took a quick shower and changed into the extra kimono shirt that Ty-lee bought me.
