she turned away, and pulled her skates back on

i couldn't even go home, as one of my friends had given me a ride

"are you getting back on the ice?" sage asked as she stood up

the bitterness was still clear in her voice

i shook my head in response, and focused on picking at my nails

when she didn't respond, i looked up to find that she was already gone

i looked into the rink, and found sage skating around

after a few minutes of watching her, she looked at me

she saw i was already looking at her

and then, sage winked.
why did she wink? was it meant for me?
surely not, she was angry at me, minutes ago

i broke our gaze, and looked around

there were no other people around me

did she have something in her eye?
i looked back at her, and she was still looking at me

until, she bumped right into some kid, because she wasn't paying attention

i stifled my laugh as she fell forwards

she didn't look hurt, but she looked slightly surprised, as she stood

even from afar, i could see that all too familiar nose scrunch

now i could see the kids mother yelling at sage

a smile broke onto my face as sage skated towards the exit

"shut up." she grumbled, before i could even speak

"have fun?"

when she didn't respond, i took it as a queue to tease her further

"was i just that attractive that you couldn't stop staring?"

her cheeks grew slightly red, and i took pride in the fact, i had made that happen

usually, she was the one annoying me.
