i stepped back, hating the way she affected me

my heart was beating so loud i was afraid she'd hear it

did sage just admit i looked good?
and what the fuck was other redeeming qualities supposed to mean

she was teasing me, she didn't mean it of course

but the way she said it.

"i did look good yesterday, didn't i?" i finally spoke, ignoring the shake in my voice

"is that all you got from that?"

"it's the most important part, isn't it?"
i could see sage open her mouth to retort, but a beeping noise interrupted her

"do you want coffee?" she turned towards a room, a kitchen i assumed and i followed behind

i was only staying for a little longer for free coffee, not for sage.

"i guess."
were we just going to ignore the previous conversation?
she gave me a mug, full of coffee and surprisingly, it was exactly what i would like.

"how did you know what i wanted?"
"the same way you knew i liked m&ms, i guessed."

i didn't reply, and the silence was awkward,

so i put my now empty mug down, just as sages phone dinged

she looked down at it, typing something and i took that as my opportunity to leave

"i'm going to, go home now."

"your ubers here."
"my uber?"
"i ordered you an uber."

how was i supposed to hate her when she did all these fucking things for me?
"i'll walk you out?" she offered, already standing up
i didn't argue, as she led me towards the front door

"you know where i live?" you had to put in an address for ubers, right?

instead of responding, she winked and then shut the door on me.
