"Okay. Let's get started with the lesson!"
Scar Kirby sounded surprisingly cheerful, Kirby observed. His older counterpart had an eager look in his eyes, and his enthusiasm was infectious, swirling around Kirby like a protective cloud. He was clearly excited to pass on the secrets of his power to someone else—perhaps he had felt lonely, possessing a power no one could understand. Maybe he saw comfort with sharing his knowledge.
Scar Kirby cleared his throat, and Kirby startled, blinking. "The Copy Ability, as you know, is the ability to copy other Abilities and to use it against your foe," Scar Kirby began, wasting no time at all.
Kirby nodded. He knew that much.
Scar Kirby continued. "But that's a little inconvenient, don't you think? To have to rely on others to access such dangerous power. It should be able to be used at all times, seeing as it's so powerful."
Kirby tipped his head thoughtfully, considering the marked puffball's words. That was a good point. He found himself thinking back to every time his friends had to assist him during a fight, and he blushed with embarrassment when he realized it was more than he expected. What would happen his friends were away, or if he couldn't find the resources for a Copy Ability?
As if Scar Kirby could sense his agreement, he smiled, his dark eyes twinkling. "Voids can form our memories into power, and the Copy Ability is no exception. If I remember hard enough on a certain Ability, I can use summon a Copy Ability whenever I want!"
Kirby stared at him. Use a Copy Ability whenever he wanted? Was such a thing even possible? It sounded too good to be true! But Scar Kirby didn't seem to be daunted by his doubtful thoughts. Instead, he grew still, holding one of his paws high in the air, as if reaching for the stars. Kirby looked on silently, fascinated.
"Gathering my memories, I call upon..." Scar Kirby paused, thinking, before he let out a loud cry, his eyes brightening. "...the Sword Ability!" Scar Kirby was swallowed in a mist of blinding light, causing Kirby to stumble back and shield his eyes. Once the light faded away, Scar Kirby appeared before him, a neat little green hat sat on his head, and a smooth, glinting sword flashing dangerously in his paw. Little stars popped out from the weapon, as if it had been forged by the night's shimmering lights. Kirby's mouth gaped in awe.
Out of thin air, Scar Kirby had summoned a Copy Ability!
Scar Kirby smiled triumphantly. "With this, I can use any Copy Ability I want!" He discarded the Ability, which shot out of his body as a green star, an emblem of a sword shimmering at the front. Kirby watched through wide, curious eyes as the star bounced around a few times before shattering, leaving no trace of the Ability behind.
"There isn't really a down side to this technique, which makes it really useful," Scar Kirby explained, and then added: "But it might be a little difficult for to get the hang of.
"To summon a Copy Ability, you first want to think of the Ability you want to use," Scar Kirby instructed him, his eyes revealing nothing except the galaxy's shining tears. "Try for yourself."
Giving him a quick nod, Kirby thought of the first Ability he ever used: the Fire Ability. It happened to also be his favourite Ability, with its limitless potential and powerful burns.
