Sonic's pointed ears twitched nervously as the wind slapped painfully across his muzzle, as if scolding him for his stupid plan. Still in the crushing talon of Eggman's robot bird, Sonic was completely helpless, not being able to use his arms nor legs to escape.

Plus, they were above water.

What I would give to not go in there! Sonic thought with a frightened hiss, his quills bristling in response.

The thought of even getting wet was too much for the legendary hero.

Eggman seemed to hear Sonic's shrill cry, for he gave out a loud, annoying laugh that seemed to pierce the air. "Enjoying the view, Sonic?" he taunted, wanting to crush the hedgehog's hope of escaping out here on the sea, where the water sent strong waves to any helpless mobian stranded in the ocean.

However, Sonic, being the prideful hedgehog he was, grinned as if nothing were wrong, replying, "Never seen anything better!"

That was a total lie.

He was terrified.

Still, Sonic refused to let his enemy see his fearful expression plastered on his face.

Which did not save him from the fate he was about to meet.

"Well, well, well. Thought you could save the puffball and emerald, huh?" Eggman suddenly asked, his voice laced with a hint of glee. Sonic's head tipped with curiosity; what had gotten the evil doctor so excited?

"Say goodbye, blue rodent. Your friends will never find you, and I will make sure they think your still alive, at least until they find out. You'll be very useful for interrogations! And what do you know, you look just as blue as the sea! Even if they do try to rescue you, they'll never find you in time before you die! Oh, ho ho ho!"

And without any further warning, Eggman dropped Sonic into the dark blue ocean, causing the poor hedgehog to freeze in terror as his body neared the cursed sea.

Before plunging into salt water.

Painful memories flashed throughout the hero's mind as he began to splash in the water, raising his muzzle just above the water to keep himself from swallowing any of the sea's salty contents.

However, it was no use.

Sonic's fur instantly became heavy with water, and the cold salt water had already entered his bones, making his teeth chatter as he shivered, his body trying to maintain heat. His body became numb with cold, and he suddenly felt woozy and lightheaded, his vision flickering as his movement became slow and frail.

No! I won't go down like this!

Trying to paddle, Sonic desperately clawed the water, his nose becoming stuffy with the salty scent of the sea. Sneezing, the blue hedgehog gave a loud gasp as a magnificent tide washed over him, dragging him underwater, with precious air bubbles escaping his mouth.

Sonic's throat began to tighten immediately, and he could hear his own heart beat rapidly in his ears. Other than that, all was silent.

Alarm sparked throughout the Blue Blur's mind.

Facing one of his greatest fears, Sonic finally allowed terror to finally control him. He began to lash out, slashing the water desperately as he tried to go above the surface. However, his legs would not respond, refusing to budge as he fell deeper and deeper into the depths of the ocean.
