July 2022

"Yeah, he's gone."

Clay dropped his head in sadness, "A-are you sure? I just talked to him last week-,"

"Yeah, I'm sure. I was talking to his wife just yesterday." Drista mumbled, "He's gone, Clay."

The blonde sucked in a breath before turning his head, "Wow, that's gonna be a tough one to get over." He sighed, "When's the funeral?"

"They're thinking of planning it for next month."

"That's crazy." The blonde said and put his hands behind his head, "I can't believe that."

Drista smiled sadly and walked over to her brother and hugged him tight, "I'm sorry Clay, I know how much he meant to you."

"Obviously." The man whispered and closed his eyes, "Callahan was one of my closest friends. Known him since I was seven."

"That's crazy." Drista sighed and rested her head on her brother's, "Clay, everyone around us is dying. Sapnap, Techno, Mom, Dad, Sam, Phil and now Callahan." She exhaled shakily, "These past ten years have been the most difficult."

"I agree, they've al been painful." Clay mumbled.

Drista inhaled, "I'm sorry Clay, this one's hard for you to process, I know."

"It is." The man agreed." He shrugged, "But I'd say I'm used to it now. My first experience with a big death was my best friend, and I was sixteen. Nothing more could ever affect me as much as Sapnap's did."

"I know, I know." Drista comforted him, "It's still sad though."

The two siblings hugged each other as they soaked in the sadness in the room. Their blonde hair was streaked with a lot of silver and white hairs, yet their faces still looked younger than what they were.

"I need to go." Drista sighed, "Niki asked me to bring her some food."

Clay pulled away from the embrace and frowned, "Doesn't the hospital provide that?"

"Yeah, but you know Niki. Even though she's dying, she wants the best of the best."

The man ran a hand through his hair, "That's another death that's gonna kill us."

"Yep." Drista agreed, "The day we lose Niki is the day I will go insane."

Clay inhaled a deep breath, "Well, we just need to be here for her every last moment of her life." He smiled sadly, "I'm not too fazed though, because I know that I'm next."

"Don't say that." Drista huffed and flicked her brother's forehead, "I don't even want to imagine losing you."

"Then don't imagine it."

"I won't."

Clay smiled at his sister and brought her in for another hug. He patted her back comfortingly as he internally thanked her, "I'll tell Tommy you stopped by."

"If you could." She paused, "I kinda miss that little gremlin."

"Crazy child."

"Our dirty little crime boy."

The siblings laughed with each other and said their goodbyes as Drista waved and walked out of the house. The car started up before backing out of the driveway and driving down the road.

The house was silent. It was lonely.

Tommy had moved out two months ago to be closer to his job. He would visit every two days, but the house was much more lonely without him.
