March 1963

"God, you are so dedicated to that." Nick said as he sat down next to Clay.

The two boys had just finished a session at the gym. Both were sweaty and tired.

"Hm." Clay hummed, continuing to write.

"That thing was due in January, why are you still writing in it?" Nick asked and put his towel on his shoulders.

"I don't know." The blonde muttered, "Mrs Bloom said that I could continue to write in it if I wanted to."

"You must have a lot to write then."

"I do."

Nick furrowed his brows and sighed, "Please for the love of god tell me all those pages aren't dedicated to George." He said and looked at all the pages the blonde had written in.

Clay didn't say anything as the pencil gilded across the paper, writing all the things he wanted to say.

"Dream, I love George, he was once one of my best friends, but you need to stop." He sighed, "You can't keep pining over him forever, I can't continue seeing you like this."

Clay stopped writing and looked at his best friend angrily, "George still is one of your best friends."

"I don't know man, the way he's been treating you makes me want nothing to do with him-,"

"Home many times do I have to tell you Sapnap? Don't cut George off just because he hates me, he has nothing against you."

"Yeah, not against me particularly," Nick agreed, "But he doesn't try with any of the boys either, not to mention he treats Karl like shit."

"How?"

"I don't know." Nick huffed, "Maybe because he's related to his bitch of a brother." He threw his hands up in frustration, "But I don't understand how that's Karl's problem, he doesn't do anything."

Despite talking about George in a negative way, Clay smiled. He had never seen his best friend talk so defensively about anyone other than him and he had indeed noticed the amount of times Karl's name would come up in conversations.

Clay put his journal away and sat down comfortably, "You're right, Karl doesn't do anything wrong." He paused to smile, "Speaking of Karl...what's going on between you two?"

Nick looked at the blonde with a smile before looking away, "Nothing...,"

"Bullshit." Clay scoffed and hit the back of Nick's head, "When did you start liking him?"

The brunette shook his head, the smile still on his lips, "I don't know what you're talking about."

Clay frowned and stood up, taking the towel off Nick's shoulders and hitting him hard on his thigh.

"Ow! Fuck!"

Clay put the towel on his shoulder and pointed at Nick threateningly, "You better tell me what's going on after we get changed." He smirked at his friend's face and walked to his locker.

"Fucking asshole."

"Okay since when?" Clay asked as they walked out of the building, "Because last time I checked, you were all like 'girls this, women that', so I'm a little confused how you came to like Karl."

"I don't know man, he's just amazing." Nick said happily and bit his lip, "I never used to realise it before, but he has such a kind and awkward face, but it's the type of awkward that's just so fucking cute."
