The next morning I could smell the French toast dad was making as soon as I woke up. Dad joked, "You should've invited your new boytoy down for breakfast."

Wow, dad. Really? Sheesh, haha. But I did notice I received a good morning J text from Matt. Wow, I think he really kinda likes me! Dad said, "Ok, now we need to get the rest of this shit unpacked today. You got it?"

Ugh really? He's demanding so much of me this early in the morning. I pour syrup over my breakfast. "Can Matt help?" I asked with a mouthful.

Dad shrugged. "Sure, I guess. I don't think he really needs to though."

"Why not?" I asked.

"For one, it's our crap and two what if he steals."

I rolled my eyes. "I don't see him doing that but ok fine whatever I won't tell him to come over. I think he was hoping to though."

"Do what you want. If he really wants to then fine."

I thought about it while I ate. I decided not to text him to come over. I didn't want him seeing me being unsexy lol. I didn't even bother getting dressed. I was sweaty and smelt when it was all said and done. Freaking finally! No more unpacking! Yay! It was late Sunday afternoon. I plopped down in front of the TV with dad. "Ready to start work tomorrow?" I asked.

Dad rolled his eyes before looking at me. Sarcastically, he answered, "What do you think?"

My phone buzzed and I was anxious to see who it was. Ugh, great. Some number that's most definitely not in my contacts. It always made me nervous when a number I don't know called or texted. The text read: 'Hey! This is Caroline. I got your number from Matt. Me, Elena, and Bonnie are having a girl's night and wondered if you'd like to join?'

I feel bad about saying this, but I almost hate when I get asked to do things. I get shy and tense and awkward feeling. I told dad about it and he, of course, goes "You should!" Silent sigh. And so I will, I suppose. Why not? She probably wouldn't leave me alone until I do. I text back: 'Sure. What do I need and what time?'

Buzz, buzz. Caroline: 'we're meeting at the grill at 5 then going back to Elena's to hang out.' Five? Crap. I better get a shower.

After texting Caroline I had arrived, I was told to come in; they had a table in the middle of the restaurant. I was shivering with nerves (I get really weird about this stuff, I'm telling you.) and had goosebumps. I walked in and immediately starting looking for the girls. Relief warmed my body when I saw Caroline shoot a hand up in the air to wave. I smiled and approached, sitting beside Caroline. Hey, there's the black girl from the bakery that gave me my cupcake. I sat in front of her. Introductions happened and I grabbed a chip from the basket in the center of the table. Mid-chew I heard a comforting voice excitedly sound, "Hey!" I spun my head and saw Matt holding a basket housing dirty dishes he was collecting from the tables. With a mouth full of tortilla chip I began to reciprocate hey when I fully recalled the food in my mouth. Now I felt really embarrassed. I put my hand over my mouth, swiftly chewed and swallowed, then all cool-like, I repeated the whole word of: Hey.

He smiled and continued his job. All the girls, especially Caroline whom I have perceived as being the gossipy one, widened their eyes. "So are you and Matt a thing?" she inquired. I shook my head no and explained the friendship. Then I went on to say how I think he might like me and I might like him.

As we gabbed over our food, I quickly became fond of these girls. Already I could sense that they were really there for each other, like they would do anything for their best friend. I never really grasped that complete feeling with my friends back home.

We were cracking up at random things that were topic- of- the- moment when a sexy voice chimed. "Hey ladies."

When I looked, I became sweaty and my heart skipped a beat as did the first time I saw him. Damon Salvatore. The girls looked mildly disgusted and Elena told him to go away. He looked at me, side-smiling with "See how mean they are to me? It's ridiculous!" With that, he was off and away headed towards the bar.

Uh-oh. All eyes on me. Elena rolled her eyes. "Please don't tell me you actually fall for that, do you?"

Caroline agreed. "Do you like him?"

Bonnie's turn. "Oh, Noelle, no."

"What!!" I defended myself. "What is wrong with him? Why does everyone hate him? He's been nice to me!"

"He's nice to everyone at first, but once you get to know him, you wished you hadn't," Caroline stated.

I will decide that one for myself.
