It was Tuesday and I was in a good mood when I strode up to the Salvatore's door because I got to see Damon today more than likely. I open the door and walking across the entry way stopped a girl with short chopped brown hair staring at me. Uhm, who the hell is this?
I closed the door behind me. Damon appeared from behind the end of the entry way. "Ah, Noelle this is Rose. Rose, Noelle." Why the HELL was his shirt unbuttoned?
"Pleasure," said Rose as she stuck her hand out to shake mine which I didn't oblige. I noticed she had an accent and I looked peculiarly at her. "Oh," she perceived, "My accent. I'm from England."
I gave a courtesy nod to her and glared at Damon then back at her. "How do you know each other?"
Rose gave a little glance and smile back at Damon who reciprocated and I didn't really appreciate that at all. "Damon's an old friend of mine," she began. "We met when I came to Mystic Falls..."
I glared, still wanting to know more.
"...I wanted to learn more about the history of this place. My best friend Trevor was from here when he came to England and enlightened me about the past." She looked pained when she said Trevor.
I nodded and "hmmed". I felt rude but I didn't care. I did not like what seemed to be going on here. In fact, I decided to leave. I was getting pissed by the second once I started letting things sink in. "Well, nice to meet you- (not)-. I'll come back another time." I turned on my heel and grabbed for the door. I heard Damon say "Noelle, no-" but I cut him off by slamming the door behind me. It didn't slam all the way though. Damon had caught it and was trailing me outside, his unbuttoned shirt waving as he walked and stated, "What are you doing?"
"Leaving," I replied very boldly and cold.
"What? Why?"
I spun around to look at him. "Because!" I shouted. "You should have told me your girlfriend was over and I wouldn't have come!"
"Girlfriend?" Damon snarled. "Rose is not my girlfriend, she's just an old friend."
"Then why is your shirt unbuttoned?"
He looked down at his torso and then putting his arms out and bending his neck back looking up at the sky like I was crazy. "Because I didn't button it up!"
"Whatever," I scowled and pulled my door handle but Damon stepped in front of me to stop me.
"Why does it matter if we did hook up?" He sounded like he was worn out from fighting.
I flushed and could no longer look him in the eye. "I don't know, because," I finally answered.
"Well she was leaving shortly anyways. She was passing through town on her way down to New Orleans to meet up with some people, so stay. And no, we did not hook up..."
I got a strong sense that he had to stop himself from admitting a "this time" which severely pisses me off and makes me jealous but I tried to forget about it. I felt so embarrassed the way it was, so I (reluctantly) decided to come back in.
Rose did leave very soon after I came back in and when Damon wasn't looking, she whispered in my ear, "I understand." And we shared a smile.
Once she left, I didn't feel like bringing her back up again so I pretended nothing ever happened. Later that day when I left work, I told Damon that we were hanging out tomorrow and he chuckled an "ok."
