This whole vampire witch thing was almost too surreal. Very odd. Very cool. Kinda creepy. I'm still adjusting, but I've grown to be pretty, how do I say this...not scared to death anymore. Things I learned about vampires: the sunlight will catch them on fire if they don't have a daylight ring, which obviously, Caroline, the Salvatores, Rose, and those woods-freaks have. They can only get a ring if a witch makes it for them. Bonnie made Caroline's, but Bonnie's super old ancestor Emily (who was like a maid to Katherine), made the Salvatore's. I've learned that drinking liquor helps with cravings. And that they still enjoy the taste of regular food and soda. I've learned that Ms. Forbes and Mrs. Lockwood, who are a part of the Founder's Council, know about the blood bags taken from the hospital each month and they know who takes them and on what days they are taken. Obviously, vampires are super-fast and super strong. They are not allergic to garlic. They don't sparkle. They are as sexy as the books make them.
I decided to change purses and when I dumped the contents out on my bed, I was stumped. There lay a silver piece. I realized it was a necklace. I carefully picked it up and let the chain slip through my fingers and held the charm in my palm. Woah, I completely forgot about this! It was the dream catcher that weird lady gave me at the craft show. I still don't know what that was about, but oh well. I put it around my neck and got ready to head over to work. I can't tell you how easy I have it. My job is fun and doesn't even seem to be like work. I just hope it continues on.
I was sweeping the entry way/living room when Damon walked in. He had on his black button up shirt (that was unbuttoned, mind you) and his sleeves were rolled halfway up. Classic Damon. I stopped the sweeper to say hi as he fixed a drink. I plopped on the couch and looked up at him. He raised his eyebrows and grinned. "Hey you're wearing my necklace. I was wondering when you were gonna do that."
My throat went dry. I touched the charm with three fingers. "You got this for me?"
He looked at me like 'duh' but didn't say anything. Why wasn't he answering me? "Well why did you have the lady give it to me?"
I stared as he came around the couch and sat beside me. "I compelled her," he stated before taking a sip.
"Why?" I was confused and getting perturbed. "How did you know I wanted it?"
Damon didn't answer right away. "Vampires can be...invisible, per say. We are very stealthy. Obviously, you witnessed that in the woods."
I felt equally flattered and creeped out at the same time. "That's creepy..."
"You betcha. Anyways, you're welcome."
I said "Thank you" hesitantly. "But why did you get it for me?"
We locked eyes and it felt like we were looking into each other's souls. "Because you didn't," he answered.
We smiled at each other. I feel like we have something for each other. I mean, I know I do for him. I got nervous, stood up, announced "Well thanks again" and went back to sweeping. I felt rude, but I'm scared to get in a moment deeper that what we've gotten into. I'm scared about what would happen. He got up and left the room. Being that the room is large, it took me a little while to sweep it. Damon never did come back. I feel like we ended on an odd note.
