Chapter three
Willy's wizarding wonders! They'll work.
The crowd erupted in screaming and cheering; flashes of light sparked out of the darkness around me, people calling my name trying to get me to look in all different directions. The world began to spin around. I kept trying to blink the camera flashes out of my eyes but the harder I tried, the more it was there.
"Enough!" a loud sharp noise pierced through my thoughts. I turned around, peering through the storm and the flashing cameras. A huge creature was standing behind the crowd encircling me.
That boy from before stood in front of the shadow. He had his arms stretched up high and another similar shadow sulked around behind him.
"Diago?" I said unsure of how I knew that name.
The shadow turned quickly in my direction. His huge blue eyes matched the boy's suit from earlier. Diago lifted his head, coming to about four feet tall. A clicking noise came from Diago and his throat lit up bright blue as he shot a column of white-hot flames into the sky.
That distracted the reporters and also lit up the creature the boy was trying to keep at bay.
She was graceful standing in the rain. Her eyes were like molten rocks. She was slim and built for speed. The absolute perfect aerodynamic animal. Long powerful horns sat on her head. Her snout was long and thin. Her neck's even longer powerful wings sat tightly tucked at her sides, occasionally ruffling. Her mighty tail swished from side to side like an angry cat.
Her bright eyes met mine. She spread her wings and crouched. I knew that stance. I knew that dragon.
I ran forward " Isha!" I yelled. Before I knew what was happening, I was halfway into the sky. " Isha!" I yelled again. I tried to see what was holding me but I could barely move. I could only see below me when the blinding lights sprung to life startling the creature carrying me. It screamed out and flapped its massive wings suspended in the air. Dragon I thought but not one I knew.
I could see the small crowd near the landing docks frozen in fear but one of them broke off from the others and ran towards the dragon Diago.
Isha spread her wings and leaped into the sky, pushing against the pounding rain. The boy and Diago weren't far behind. The only problem was when they lifted off the ground the dragon holding me got its bearing backs.
"Oh no," I said, "hurry!" I yelled back but I wasn't sure if they could even hear me as the wind picked up. I could feel the dragon swaying in the wind. Isha, Diago, and the boy's efforts were in vain but neither did they try desperately to get to me.
By the time they got halfway to us, the dragon steadied in the wind and began to furiously flap its wings trying to get higher and higher into the sky. The dragon climbed the sky like a ladder, and the dragons and the boy tried to follow helplessly tossed around in the wind.
I had an odd sensation that I felt something similar to this before it wasn't long ago. A memory flashed of a giant flaming bawl clutched in Isha's claws. I knew I was on her back but we weren't in the sky, we were underwater. The surface burst open. I hit something with my head hard and fast. I was momentarily unconscious.
"That's why I don't remember anything," I said, touching my forehead with my one free hand.
The next thing I knew it wasn't raining anymore. It was silent. Lightning flashed below my feet. My feet just barely grazed the clouds below.
The sky was lit up in every color you could imagine. If I wasn't clutched in the claws of a demon dragon this would be so awesome. It was peak sunset "it must be around six or seven," I thought "wow the composition does take all day."
