Chapter Ten

Let the games begin

The starting tournaments differed vastly from the championship games. These you race with other competitors around a track. Usually, there are obstacles, but I didn't see any.

"Do you think they pop up during the race?" she asked

"Don't know they might think that would be fun to do again."

I said, remembering one of the races, some obstacles were delayed and popped up when you were only a few feet away.

"Hey Will," I said "remember when you almost went headfirst into a wall that popped up in front of you guys?"

"Huh," he said dazed,"this is amazing, how did you guys do this?"

"It was here when I found the camp," Mia said, "no one knows who built it but they also don't particularly care most of the time as long as they are allowed to race on it."

A loud horn blew and everyone fell silent.

We found seats towards the bottom closer to the track; they were too small for the dragons but they stayed close right below us on the sidelines.

Most of the seats were empty but the sound rang out around the stadium you would think it was over packed.

A horn blew again and I finally found where the audio tower was placed at the far end of the stands. The Horn stood on top ringing my ears.

Someone in the stand started talking through booming speakers.

"WELCOME! As you all know it's just another day at the races we have four contestants joining us today! HERE! THEY! COME!"

Kit nudged me "it's staring look." he pointed right across from us and a door opened. It was too dark to see into it.

"First up we have Smaraki and Diya!" A white dragon stepped out, it was the one that saved us. His head held high with his snowy owl feathers making a ring all around his neck and down his body. swaying in the wind. Massive feathered wings hung loosely around his four massive legs that were bigger than Isha's body. His feet were more like those of an owl with black claws. A long-tail tipped with feathers swept across the dirt.

"I saw them earlier," I said.

"That's Diya," he said pointing to the girl that walked next to him She held her head high with purpose

Loose pants swung around her legs as she walked lightly but determined. they got tight at her waist, she Slightly swung her arms in her loose crop top. Long black hair danced behind her, occasionally swimming in front; she brushed it away with her beautiful deeply tanned hands; her dark eyes caught mine. Long lashes curled around her big almost black eyes. She smiled, it was beautiful and warm, lighting up her entire face with one movement.

"He's one of the biggest dragons I've ever seen," Will said with wide eyes.

"One?" I asked, pulling my focus away from the beautiful girl and her snowy dragon.

"I lived on my own before I found the camp I've seen a lot. I've been around a lot."

He turned away the shining curiosity from his eyes dimmed.

I wanted to comfort him but I didn't know if I should so I didn't. I just tucked my hands between my legs.

"VENUS AND JOANA!"

"No way," Will said, "Ki look at that dragon!" he nudged me pointing like the big child he is.

I sat bolt upright "wow what is that?" I asked watching the dragons and people take their places lined up on the start line.
