Chapter Thirteen
I love brownie
We wasted no time not wanting to wait and see if the silver-eyed man came through the rift.
I lost track of time since we left. Going through the rift screwed up our phones badly. So we ditched them. It could have been how that guy was following us. Sounds crazy, but at this point, with all the things I've seen in the past few days, nothing is impossible anymore.
We flew until the sun was high in the sky, and the dragons started to get tired. Even though we glided most of the way, I could feel Isha's wings beat with less strength every time.
"Let's take a break! Find out where we exactly are," I said.
We landed. Near a beach town. People ran away, frightened when they realized we weren't a threat, and they went back to swimming around.
"Let's head into town we might be able to find something there," Will said as he slid off Diago.
I did the same, taking my bag with me and rummaging around inside of it. Pulling out a small bag of coins. "Well, at least we have money," I said, "but it won't last long at all. It can get us some food, but I don't know."
On cue, Isha's stomach growled. She looked at it.
"If she's okay with it, I might have an idea. It's pretty gross, but he'd get into the dumpsters when I couldn't afford food for Diago. It's gross, I know; the sea in Califreo was too dangerous for him to fish most of the time. but if it keeps them full until we can get to Zilbra, then it's something, right?"
Isha sighed, "I guess it wouldn't be the first time I've eaten rotten meat."
Diago wagged his tail happily.
"You are a dumpster," Isha said. Diago jumped on her, happily licking her.
"Alright, get off," she said, as she kept him at bay with one foot. "food?"
"Let's go into town then" I looked around. "Does anyone know which way town is exactly?"
"Maybe ask someone?" Will offered.
Most people were just in complete shock at seeing dragons up close, trying to pet them and all. We finally got an answer from a water spirit.
"Go right up the stone path and head straight. I can't help you more. I've never gone farther than the second ocean.''
It was so crowded on the bridge that we had to fly across to avoid being hit by passing cars.
There were so many restaurants all over the place and shops and strip malls with all kinds of things. We found out we were in a town called Onytad beach.
"So we flew south," Will said.
"Yeah, way south," I said, "but we're closer to Zilbra now."
"Let's try to get food," Will said, "like bread and stuff non-perishables too."
"Yeah, we have to ration stuff to last at least a day's ride and some for the dragons too."
We found a supermarket and stocked up on food granola bars and packs of meat. Bread and some peanut butter and jelly plus more meat. We ended up leaving with more dragon food than our food.
We found a park and ate some sandwiches and the non-per Ishables
practically eating the entire food supply already.
I pulled out a map and tried to find out where we were.
"There," Will pointed, "so it's almost a day ride the rest of the way."
