Shay was sitting in the waiting room, anxiously awaiting to see the doctor. Ever since she came forward about being raped, she had kept coming in for checkups. But what she had never told Sam or Mak is that a month after she was raped, Shay found out she was pregnant. But due to all the stress from her family, the trial, and her living situation it caused her to have a miscarriage. Which is what led her to be so closed off from, not only dating, but from everyone.
"The doctor will see you now." The nurse said with a soft smile as Shay got up and followed her into the doctor's office.
"Hello Shay. Have a seat." Dr. Kim said with a smile as Shay sat in the seat in front of the desk. The nurse handed Dr. Kim the files he had ordered, before seeing herself out. "How have you been feeling?" Shay bit her lip as her knee bounced in an anxious manner.
"I've made a new friend at work, so I've been a bit happier." Dr. Kim nodded before writing something on a note pad in front of him.
"Are you still having nightmares?" He asked with a concerned glare.
"Yes, but less frequent." Shay admitted as she sighed softly.
"Are you still having suicidal thoughts?" Dr. Kim asked as his eyes fell on the burgundy haired female. He watched her body language and her reaction to his words.
"I do." She answered honestly, which caused Dr. Kim to sigh in relief.
"You're finally being honest with me. What's changed?" Dr. Kim asked as he leaned back in the chair. Shay played with her hands in a nervous manner as she continued to bite the skin on her lips.
"I want to get better. I'm tired of surviving. I want to live and be happy again." Dr. Kim smiled at the female's words before handing her a slip of paper.
"Here's a good therapist, after speaking with them, we'll discuss if you need to be medicated or not. Are you sure this is what you want?" Dr. Kim asked once more just to be safe, but Shay nodded.
"I want this. I'm willing to try anything that will help. I want to get better for my friends and my family. I'm tired of them feeling like they have to walk on eggshells around me. I'm tired of being seen as broken."
"I'm proud of you, Shay. You've been through a lot in the past 6 years. I'm glad to see that you want to better yourself. I'll be looking forward to the progress you make in the next few sessions." Shay gave a weak smile, while trying to keep her anxiety in check.
"Me too."
