Hey Beautiful! I was just checking in on you! It's been a few days, and I really miss your voice. If you're feeling up to it, I'd like to Facetime sometime. I'd like to see the face that matches the voice that I've grown to like. Just let me know <3

It breaks Shay's heart to avoid Matt's texts, but at the same time she wasn't sure how to respond to him. She wanted to tell him everything, but at the same time she was afraid she would scare him away. She could fell herself falling for Matt, and it honestly scares the hell out of her. Mak placed a hand on her shoulder, which caused her to look up at her friend. 

"I think you should agree to Facetime him." Shay's eyes widened at her friend's words. "You clearly care a lot about him, and you can tell he cares about you. You don't have to tell him what's going on, but it might calm your nerves to talk to him. Texting and calling him always puts a smile on your face, so you owe it to yourself to still pursue him. Especially considering he's still texting you, despite the fact that you haven't talked to him in days. He cares Shay. Let him in." Shay bit her lip as her eyes glanced down towards her phone. 

"I just don't want to put him in danger. It's bad enough that we have to bring Nick into this mess." She replies with a deep sigh. Mak then gave her a small smile. 

"Him not knowing puts him in more danger. Besides, you think if something happened to you that he wouldn't be crushed? He clearly likes you, Shay. He's not like James. Don't punish him for what James has done." Shay smiled to herself as she remembered how Matt has made her feel over the short time, they've known each other. He makes her feel comfortable and cared for. Something that James never made her feel. She feels safe with Matt, which also makes her scared. She then texted him back without another thought, regardless of how shaky her hands were.

Sorry, things have been crazy. I'd be down to Facetime. Would you like to tomorrow?

She nervously bit her nails as she waited for a reply. She was expecting him to blow her off, considering she hadn't texted him back in days. But much to her surprise he answered her, which caused a smile to spread across her face.

Of course! So glad to hear from you! I hope everything is ok. I'll see you tomorrow <3 

"You've got it bad." Mak joked as she walked away. 

"Shut up! So do you! Did you think I forgot about Chris?" Mak then choked on spit because of her friend's blunt words. Which caused Shay to laugh, before getting up to help her friend. Even in the darkest of time, they can still share their light banter.
