Things had been going well between Matt and Shay. They went from texting every day to calling each other every day, and texting whenever they can't call one another.
"So what are you up to?" Matt asked as he laid across his bed, while his phone was on speaker. Shay had to work, but since it's just her and Mak tonight she decided to call Matt to pass the time.
"I'm just doing inventory like always." She replied with a sigh as she sat at her desk doing paper work.
"A night manager at 21, who does inventory every week. Hot." Matt replied sarcastically with a light laugh at the end.
"Correction, it was every week. Now it's every other day because lately a lot of inventory has gotten stolen."
"That's even hotter." Shay couldn't help but laugh to herself as she checked things off of her list. "So you work with Nick right?"
"I do. Mak persuaded me to get him the job, so I gave him a shot." A fond smile rested on her lips as the memory came to view, she remembered like it was yesterday.
"Just think, if Nick never would have gotten the job, then I never would have met Mak and got your number." Matt spoke softly as the smile dropped from his lips. The thought scared him more than he would like to admit. He's not much of a social person, but Shay has given him something to look forward to. It's an interaction that he enjoys and isn't sure how he would live without it.
"It's strange to think of it that way." Shay replied in a dreamy tone. "It's almost like fate brought us together."
"Fate, destiny, whatever you want to call it, I'm glad it did. Even if I had the choice to meet you all over again I would." A soft blushed formed on Matt's cheeks as he spoke. He never thought he'd be saying something so cheesy, but so true.
"You would? Even after knowing everything that you know about me now?" Shay felt a warm feeling building in her stomach, which she so badly did not want to trust.
"I would do it all over again. No regrets. You've got me. For the good, the bad, the ugly, all of it. I'm here. I'm yours, and I want you to be mine." A deep blush formed on the burgundy haired females cheeks as his words left a mark on her heart.
"Are you asking me to be your girlfriend? Even through we haven't met in person?" She asked with a dumb smiled stretched across her face. She couldn't believe those words came out of her mouth.
"I do. If you'll have me." Matt was beyond nervous about asking her to be his. But he wanted to make sure that he took the opportunity, before someone else did. He has no idea what she looks like, but Matt knows in his heart that she's special. He's falling for her, and even through it scares him, he doesn't want to lose her.
"I'd be crazy not to." Matt smiled to himself as he attempted find the correct words to form his sentence.
"Is that a yes?"
"It's a yes." Matt literally jumped off his bed and did a small victory dance, before calmly going back to the phone call.
"I'm so lucky to have you." Matt replied with a huge smile on his face.
"Not as lucky as I am to have you." Moments later Shay's phone was beeping, indicating that she was getting another phone call. "I'll call you back. I have an incoming call."
"Ok. Talk to you later."
"Bye." After she hangs up she immediately answers the next call. "Hello?"
"Hey baby, did you miss me?" Shay felt her blood run cold as she recognized the voice on the other end.
"James." She whispered. "What do you want?"
"I'm coming back to claim what's mine baby. I'm coming back for you. See you soon, baby." As soon as the call ended Shay started hyper ventilating. Moments later Mak walks in and notices what's happening, before rushing to Shays side.
"Shay! What's wrong!?" She asked in a panicked tone as she held Shay close to her. She was shaking so bad that it worried Mak.
"He's back. James is back."
