When Shay had woke up the next morning, guilt immediately washed over her. When she looked at her phone she smiled, when she noticed the texts that Matt had left her. But then she noticed that she had missed calls and messages from both Mak and Nick.

"Shit." She muttered under her breath, before calling Mak's phone. As always, she picks up on the second ring.

"Shay, what the hell!? Why didn't you answer me?" Shay sighed softly at Mak's angry yet worried tone.

"I had a doctor's appointment and by the time I got home I was so exhausted that I passed out. I'm sorry." Mak sighed deeply. Shay could imagine her pinching the bridge of her nose in frustration.

"I just worry about you, Shay. Especially considering you never mentioned what important business you had to take care of." Shay bit her lip as guilt continued to flood through her.

"I went to the doctor, because I talked to him about seeing a therapist. So I can try and overcome everything that I haven't been able to talk about." The phone went silent on Mak's end from her friends words.

"Do you think that's going to help you?" She asked in a serious tone.

"I sure hope so. I might also need medicine, but I'll do whatever helps." Mak smiled to herself as tears swelled up in her eyes.

"I'm proud of you. You've come so far. I just want us to be able to talk about things like we used to." Shay could feel tears form in her eyes from hearing the hurt in her best friends tone.

"I know. I'll try to fix it. It's just been hard Mak. James broke me. Now I'm trying my best to pick back up the pieces." Her voice broke as she spoke, which torn at Mak's heart.

"I know. Which is why I've tried not to push you. We can talk more about this later. I'll see you at home ok?" Shay smiled as she sniffled.

"Ok. I'll see you soon." She then paused for a moment. "I love you, Mak." Shay had no idea of the smile that formed on Mak's face form her friends words.

"I love you, Shay. I'll see you soon." With that she ended the call. Moments later she received a text from Matt.

Matt 💜
Hey! How are you doing today?

The text was simple, but it was enough to put a smile on Shay's face.

Shay💙
Hey! I'm going fine. How are you?

Shay was unsure of where her texting conversations with Matt would go, but at the moment she wasn't worried about it. Because for the time being she was just happy to have him to talk to.

Matt 💜
I'm fine. I was just thinking about you.

Shay💙
Oh really? Should I be worried?

Matt 💜
No. It just means I think you are cool.

Shay💙
Well that's good to hear ☺️

Matt 💜
I've never had someone who can make me feel both comfortable and anxious at the same time 😅

Shay💙
Should I take that as a complement?

Matt smiled to himself at the question. He was unsure of the feeling was good or bad. All he knew for certain was that it was different. Talking to this girl was different from talking to Alana and Madi. She made him feel different. The only thing he knew for certain is that he didn't want this feeling to go away.

Matt 💜
Definitely
