Chapter 21: The Demon Awakes

-Nighttime-

I was up next to Kagome as she was treating Sango's wounds and Miroku was treating Inuyasha's.

"How are you feeling Kagami?" Shippo asked as he laid on my lap.

"Better than before thanks to Kagome." Though I still can't lift my arm much. I thought with a sigh.

It was a relatively peaceful night as our wounds were being cared for. Though Kagome was still visibly upset at Inuyasha for leaving when he was badly injured.

However, the peace didn't last when Inuyasha detected the scent of a dead man. The dead man informs us that a demon came and devoured all the villagers, but soon after he collapsed into a charred corpse.

Miroku stared down at the corpse already having an idea of what was going on. "Kagura must have been controlling his body with her Dance of the Dead. It has to be a trap." He concluded.

"Yeah to lure me out to meet the third incarnation." Inuyasha concurred.

"Are you going? Don't fall for her tricks." Kagome said, worried.

"You're still badly wounded," I added.

"I don't have a choice."

Sango frowned as she caught on to what he meant. "She sent that man to us meaning that she knows where we are."

"Yeah, and there will be no chance to flee." Miroku grimaced.

"I'm going. They were bound to attack us sooner or later." Inuyasha said already making up his mind.

We all got ready and made haste to the village only to find it left in shambles. There stood a demon with a spider mark on its back.

"So you're the third incarnation of Naraku?" Inuyasha noted.

"Hehe, you're thinking I dodged the Tetsusaiga? You're surprised at my speed despite my enormous size." He inferred. Either this demon was a good psychic or he could literally read minds.

Inuyasha stared up at the incarnation completely stunned. "What?"

The demon chuckles darkly as he confirms what we were all thinking. "Yes, Inuyasha. I can read my opponent's mind. My sisters, Kagura and Kanna, were simply the opening acts until I, Goshinki, make my debut!"

Things weren't looking good for us as Goshinki was predicting all of Inuyasha's attacks and movements. Miroku tried to use the Wind Tunnel only for it to be rendered useless by Naraku's poisonous insects appearing. My arm was still incapacitated so I couldn't use my bow and Sango was still recovering.

I clutched onto Kagome's arm feeling the same sense of dread that happened the day before. "Kagome..."

She nodded feeling the same as she held me close. "Yeah..."

"Unforgivable...I'll kill him..." Isn't that what you're thinking, Inuyasha? Don't make me laugh you're merely a half-demon. Demon blood courses through you yet you still take pity on humans?" He mocked.

"Shaddup! I'll slice you in half!" Inuyasha declared as he lifted the Tetsusaiga above his head. A wind vortex started to surround them.

"Inuyasha, you're trying to cut through the Wind Scar and blast me away," Goshinki stated already knowing his plans.

"If you know that, then prepare to die!" Inuyasha jumped up to attack only for the vortexes to suddenly disappear. The Wind Scar was cast away.

"Okay, then I'll just deliver a direct blow to your head!" Inuyasha swung the Tetsusaiga preparing to cut Goshinki's head in half.
