CHAPTER 16

Dakota's POV
October 29th, 2021

I open my eyes and the room is pitch dark but the clock at my bedside says 7:30, I turn to Chris' side and he isn't in bed with me. I stretch out feeling deliciously sore after last night and I can't help but smile as memories come to my mind when I get up and see the whole lingerie set I was wearing next to my feet. I make my way to our closet to grab something to cover my nakedness while avoiding to step on the pieces of clothing on the bedroom floor. That was certainly a really gratifying and unforgettable evening! I wear my robe as I go downstairs to look for Chris who I find on his studio.

I put my head round the door and he is unaware of presence as he's completely absorbed while playing the keyboard and singing to himself in a really low voice. He has sometimes got up in the middle of the night to get his piano because he's got an idea. I remember last summer when we were on vacation how he started hitting the bathroom sink of the place we were staying at, recorded the sound on his phone and then, sat on the keyboard listening to that loop and created the song Higher Power. That's the thing about dating a genius musician, I get to witness the amazing creative process behind his songs in which I also happen to serve as an inspiration every now and then. I silently enter the room he has adapted as his studio at home and startle him when I wrap my arms around him.

- Morning, handsome - I whisper and tenderly kiss his cheek as I watch him smile widely. He turns on the bench and immediately makes me sit on his lap while holding me close with his arms around my waist -

- Good morning, baby - he murmurs and we kiss as I run my fingers through the blonde curls on the top of his head -

- How long have you been here?

- I'd say a few hours, it was still dark but I was inspired - he utters - I'll probably be inspired for months after last night - he teases and I smile when he starts to nuzzle me behind my ear which sends shivers down my spine while his hand caresses my thigh all the way up until it's under my robe. He breathes out deeply when he realizes that I'm not wearing anything underneath -

- Have you had breakfast yet? - I ask keeping my eyes closed as I shift my head to give him better access to my throat while his intrepid hand finds my naked behind -

- I haven't - he answers while biting my earlobe and moving his fingers down the inside of my thigh now. I start to giggle and swat his hand to what he responds laughing. He looks at me with a pleased expression and gives me a swift kiss on the lips -

- Let me get you some coffee then

I amusedly shake my head as I close the door when I get out of his studio to go to the kitchen and cook breakfast for the two of us. I look at the time and realize that I need to hurry if I really want to work out before my friends get here as they are coming over around 10 AM. I've missed them so much! They are like family to me as they've been part of my life for so many years and have always stayed there to support me. They have known all of my previous boyfriends but fortunately, they love Chris as much as I do and we all mutually agree that he's the best thing that has ever happened to me. I can't help but be taken back to when I was beginning to date him and they used to enjoy embarrassing me. I always think of the time I invited Chris over to my LA home to introduce him to them and they were overly excited about the whole situation.

- Can I change the music? - Blake asks and he stops the song that was playing before I can even answer - I brought a vinyl to play while we're making dinner - he says and look at him from the kitchen, making sure he's being careful with my 'In Rainbows' by Radiohead record -

- What are you playing? - Addison enquiries while she's sitting on the counter with a glass of wine on her hand. Ben and Jeremy are in the backyard drinking and having a chat while we're in charge of cooking dinner. Blake doesn't answer but instead, music starts to play. The initial low sound goes in crescendo and it changes to an energetic and vibrant rhythm. He comes back to the kitchen dancing in a really funny way that makes Addison and I laugh out loud, he approaches me and takes my hand making me spin around -
