JIMIN POV

I sat at the kitchen island, gripping my morning coffee.

Across from me, Guk lazily scrolled through his phone while he pushed runny egg around a plate.

It was Sunday morning and I knew that neither of us had anywhere to be.

Normally, we'd spend the morning talking and drinking way too much coffee and maybe go for a walk to the grocery store.

It should have been a totally normal, totally chill day.

Except that morning, sweat was dripping down my back. My heart slammed against my ribs with anxiety, and guilt twisted my gut.

What had I done?

I'd betrayed him and I betrayed hybe too.

I'd taken the trust that Jungkook placed in me and the trust that Guk placed in me and I'd thrown it all away for what? A hookup?

Except it didn't feel like a hookup.

When a hookup ended, it was over. You just walked away.

And I was supposed to just walk away from Jungkook.

That was the whole point of hooking up in the first place, to clear my head and move on so we could be friends.

But no sooner had I pulled my body away from his, I craved him again.

I needed to hear his long moans and his needy breath and lick the salty, sweet skin beneath his ear.

I wanted him in every possible way, as a friend and a hookup and a roommate and a—

"Hey, Jimin."

"I'm sorry." I slammed the mug down way too hard and turned my eyes to Guk.

"Why are you sorry?"

I took a slow breath to compose myself.

If Guk were the editor of a gossip magazine or an exciting new client, I'd have no problem keeping my cool.

But lying to my best friend was against my nature and the truth I couldn't share nagged me, like a mosquito in my ear.

"I'm not." I said. "I just meant what's up?"

Guk squinted, then chuckled as he decided to let my weird behavior go.

"I'm going to Outdoor Supply later, Do you need anything for the camping trip?"

"I think I'm set."

"hobi and Tae have an extra tent and I've got the rest of my supplies from last summer."

It was pretty rare for Guk and me to take time off work but since tae and hobi moved to town, we'd made a habit to go camping during the summer.

I always resisted taking the time off but once I got out of the city, the fresh air and quiet were lifesaving.

"Cool and not too many long hours at your desk this week, right?"

My shoulders tightened, which only reminded me how good it felt to have Jungkook rub them.

I took an awkward sip of my coffee. "Too many long hours?"

And that desk...

"If you overwork yourself, you won't be any fun on vacation."

"Right."

"Home by seven, I promise."

Guk smiled at me from across the island.
