Chapter 11: Gifts Aplenty

A/n: Caline Chapter!

Caleb's POV

Ever since I learned Flapjack was a Palisman, it has been fascinating. He can help do magic, even though I'm a human with no magic bile sack attached to my heart. That's how witches here do magic. But, they also use glyphs made from the isles, a gift of nature literally.

Anyways, the teleportation spell is super amazing! I can get from one part of the house to the other without blinking. Well, with blinking of course, but you get the idea. It's fast and highly efficient. I've been planning to use it to sneak up on Catherine to give her surprise hugs and kisses lately, but I always somehow chicken out or she predicts me sneaking happening so it never works.

Philip was out of the house for the day exploring more of Bonesborough, and I think I heard him say something about another city called "Latissa." Odd name, but it fits the carcass. Catherine's mother was out at the market and I believe Catherine's father was out too, or he was just super quiet in his office today.

Catherine was sitting peacefully on the red comfy couch. Her nose was stuck in another book, cute. I figured this was the perfect chance to use the teleportation spell to surprise kiss her!

First, I zapped next to her and double tapped her left shoulder. She looked up and to her left, but I teleported to her right. I tapped her right shoulder, and zapped away before she could turn around and see me.

I couldn't see her face, but her head drooped. So I figured it was finally time to reveal myself and cheer her up. I tapped her on the back side of her left shoulder. Catherine turned around with a worried look, and that immediately changed when I kissed her passionately on her soft and peachy lips.

She melted into the kiss putting her hands around my shoulders as I put a hand around her back caressing her cheek with my thumb.

Flapjack's POV

Alrighty, Caleb and Silvia are heading out to the market to go grab a few things, time to set the plan in motion. Recently, I had figured out one of Catherine's favorite flowers from Opal. She's my best bird buddy and I love her. She told me Catherine's favorite flowers were a special kind of Lily which were only found in a certain part of the forest.

I figured this would be the best chance to help out my pal and surprise Catherine for him. "We'll be out for a bit, be back soon Kitty!" Caleb called, closing the door.

With Caleb gone and Catherine going to her room for a bit I flew out into the forest, Opal trailed behind me. I asked for her help to carry them because obviously I'm not gonna be able to carry a whole bouquet of Flowers back into the house for my Pal's future wife. I mean at this point it's obvious right?

Wait, did I need to go right or left? Nah, doesn't matter.

"Flapjack, found them!" Opal chirped.

In a small grove in the forest stood all the Lilies in a jumble of color. I picked about five and Opal took about six and we flew home, letting the nice warm breeze carry us all the way there.

When we got home we snuck through the front room window, Catherine was still upstairs so we flew into the kitchen and set the flowers down on the table gently. "Could you grab that cool looking vase over there?" I asked Opal.

"Sure," and with that she used her beak and feet to try her best to move the vase I found over to the dining room table.

I set the flowers in one by one making sure they were all pretty. Opal found a cup and turned on the water. She brought over the cup and watered the flowers just enough. "We did it, Opal!" I tweeted.
