Bucky lies awake at night thinking about her.
The way she smiled, the way she laughed, the way she danced. The thought of her cut so deep.
Bucky sat up and rubbed his face with his hand. He got out of bed, throwing on workout clothes. He left the tower and started running. Thoughts of you drifted back into his mind.
Bucky picked up the pace, only for the thoughts to come back stronger. He sighed and let his mind drift.
"Bucky!" Y/n said.
Bucky smiled when he spotted her. She ran over and hugged him.
"You made it!" She said.
Bucky smiled.
"That I did." He said.
"Are you just gonna stand there?" She asked.
Bucky laughed and took her hand, leading her to the dance floor.
His hands gently gripped her waist as they moved to the subtle beat of the song.
Bucky stopped running and sighed. He pulled out his phone and opened messages.
Bucky: Can we talk? I'm sorry. I know it's late.
He slipped his phone back into his pocket and ran back to the tower.
He took a shower and got back in bed. His phone buzzed, startling him.
You: Is everything okay?
Bucky: I just need to talk to you.
You: Meet me at Parliament Cafe tomorrow morning. It's near Central Park.
Bucky: Okay, see you then.
Bucky shoved his phone in his pocket and tried to get some sleep.
The next morning
Bucky opened his eyes with a start. He was covered in a cold sweat. He rubbed his eyes and sighed.
"Fucking nightmares." He said.
He got out of bed and took another shower, trying to calm his mind. To say he was nervous was an understatement. He was scared shitless to talk to you again. It had been months.
Bucky quickly dried his hair, tucking stray pieces behind his ears. He put on jeans, a henley, and boots. He checked the clock and pulled out his phone.
Bucky: When did you want to meet?
You: I can meet you in 20 minutes.
Bucky: Alright. I'll head over there.
Bucky walked out of the lobby and walked to Central Park.
The walk helped him calm his nerves.
He walked into the cafe and ordered a black coffee along with his favorite latte. He took a seat in the corner by the windows. He tapped his fingers nervously.
About twenty minutes later, you walked in the door. Bucky almost gasped. You looked as beautiful as ever.
Bucky waved you over.
"Hey." You said.
"Hi. Um, I got you a latte." He said.
You smiled and took a seat across from him, setting your purse on the floor.
"How are you doing?" You asked.
"I've been better. How about you?" He asked.
"Ah, not great." You said, shaking your head.
"I'm sorry." He said, glancing out the window.
You took a sip of your coffee, shrugging. "It's not so bad." You murmured.
"In the grand scheme of things, I suppose." You added it as an afterthought.
Bucky nodded.
You noticed the rings on his fingers. "Where'd you get those?"
"Oh, found an old box of my stuff in storage." He said.
You nodded, admiring the rings.
Bucky grabbed your face and kissed you,
"Now do you believe me?"
You stared at him for a moment before kissing him again.
