"Shh baby, it's okay. Mama's here." Mercedes whispered.

A few days had passed and it was early in the morning when she heard her daughter crying. Pam, Joe, and Fergal had to leave the previous night for some appearances. However, they would be FaceTiming and texting to check in on the new mom. Mercedes missed her friends, but this also gave her some privacy to learn her own routine now with baby Chloe on her own.

"I love you so much, my sweet Chloe bug." She quietly smiled down at her daughter who was nursing from her. Even though she was exhausted, Mercedes cherished these moments with just her and her daughter. After feeding baby Chloe, Mercedes was able to get her back to sleep. She was soon to fall asleep as well before hearing the front door unlock and open.

"Jon?" She asked, seeing the estranged man walk up the steps to the main floor. After hearing the door open, Mercedes had to go see what the commotion was about.

"Yeah, hey." He said as he walked in the kitchen.

"What are you doing here? Thought you left." She replied before tossing her dark brown hair back in a messy bun.

"I did, but I felt like an asshole for leaving you." He admitted as she was confused.

"Well you've been an asshole lately." She retorted and rolled her eyes.

"Yeah I know, I'm sorry." He quietly said as she was taken back.

"You're sorry?" Mercedes questioned.

"Yes, I'm sorry. I know you probably don't forgive me, but I'm willing to earn your trust back." He calmly said as she was still confused. She knew she was awake but part of her felt like she was living in a dream.

"Okay." She managed to spit out and say. Mercedes had no idea what this meant or where things would go from here. One thing was for sure though, if Jon wanted to work his way back up he was definitely going to have to prove himself a lot.
