"Alright, you guys are sure about keeping the girls with you? I shouldn't be gone more than two to three hours max." Mercedes asked Rebecca and Colby nearly a month later.

She and the girls were settled in. Rebecca and Colby didn't mind having Mercedes and their nieces with them. Everyone was respectful about each other's privacy. It was also fun for Aunt Rebecca and Uncle Colby to get to be with their baby nieces a bit more.

They would also be keeping the girls for a couple hours. Mercedes was in the process of selling her home that she and Jon once shared. She was going to do a walk through of it and do a final cleaning of it before some showings would be happening soon. She was ready to get rid of the house and all of the bad memories involved. She was trying to shed the skin of what was once hers.

"Absolutely, we got them. Go do what you need to do sister." Rebecca smiled before getting up to hug her friend. Colby did the same. Mercedes thanked them before heading out.

Mercedes stopped to get herself a coffee on her way to the old home. She tried clearing her mind before she arrived. It was painful to step inside and feel all of the negative, toxic energy and emotions. So much good could have happened there. It didn't though and it wasn't Mercedes' fault. The only good memories she got out of that home was with her two baby girls. Other than that, the memories could go to hell.

"This is good." She whispered to herself as she was doing a walk through of the house. She nearly jumped back as she heard the front door open and slam angrily. She wasn't as surprised to see who was there though. Her infuriated, estranged, long ago lover.

"Hi? Can I help you?" Mercedes questioned Jon. She hasn't heard from him since right after Chloe turned one. That was nearly four months ago, so she wasn't sure what he wanted this time.

"Yes you fucking can! What the fuck are you doing?! Where's my stuff? Where's your stuff?!" He shouted as she could also tell he had been drinking. She wasn't as close to him but could smell the alcohol on his breath and body. That was a huge factor into his anger, but he'd never admit it.

"I'm selling the house. Your stuff is in the garbage since you never came to get it. And it's none of your business where my things are as we are no more Jon. I'm done." She replied, doing her best to stay calm. So far she was doing good, but her anxiety was doing it's job by eating a way at her.

"What do you mean my stuff is in the garbage Mercedes?! What the fuck is wrong with you!" He exclaimed as he was seething red. Mercedes took a few steps back from him as she began to feel fearful for what he could do.

"I told you to come get your things and you didn't. This is the result of that." She spoke up before cracking her knuckles.

"You fucking bitch!" He yelled before shoving her back, hitting against a wall.

"Get your hands off of me you prick!" She shouted back as she stood up but Jon was right there to smack her against the face. She felt the mark and tears filled her eyes.

"Get away from me!" She bellowed, trying to shove him away from her and walk past him.

"You're a fucking whore Mercedes! You worthless slut! How dare you do this to me?! I gave you the life you dirty bitch!" He angrily spoke before shoving her against another wall.

"Jonathan David Good! Get the hell away from me before I have you arrested! I want nothing to do with you, you scumbag!" She retorted as she was now seeing red.

"Good! Call the fucking police! They'll see what you deserve too!" He roared before slapping her across the face again. He shoved her one more time before abruptly leaving.

Mercedes sat there, face covered in tears as well as red marks from Jon's hand. She could feel some bruising on her wrists from where he shoved and pinned her. Mercedes couldn't let this slide again. She had to file some reports and keep Jon the hell away from her once and for all.
