01 || Prologue

Hey there! Just before you get started, I'm just making sure you know that this is a Royalty AU! This story takes place in a kingdom run by the Tenmas. Tsukasa is a prince, soon to become king. Now that you know, let's start the story. Shall we?

It's been three months since Saki went missing.

The whole castle has been quiet ever since.

Nobody dares mention her name, apart from father, of course. He has all the privileges in this kingdom. I wonder when I'll be king; then I could say what I want, do what I want. Ever since Saki's disappearance, father has been really strict lately. It wasn't always like this, though. 

Mother passed away over two years ago. She died due to a sickness with no found cure. Father had been trying really hard to save her, but he just couldn't. He was too late. By the time he bought back the 843rd doctor to see mother in her room, she already passed. Saki was right next to her, sobbing. She was staring at her loving face, disintegrate into a lifeless expression, right on the spot. I wasn't there though. I was out to get medicinal herbs like the doctor asked me. I haven't even got to say my last goodbye to mother, and I wish I did. I wish I could've found a cure before she passed. I wish I helped more. I wish I could've gotten to stay with her in her final moments. 

After mother passed, Saki fell into a great depression. She attempted suicide multiple times. First it was with a simple rope, then it was with the knives in the kitchen, then she used a weapon used in war, one that used to belong to my father... I still can't bare to even think of this anymore. It wasn't until a year and a half went by and she had enough; she decided to run from home. That was only just three months ago, I still can't believe it. 

I miss her.

I miss her so much.

Sis, where are you?

"Tsukasa-Senpai, time to get up."

It's Toya.

The blue split-haired boy got flustered.

"I- uh... I didn't mean to startle you sir... Breakfast is being served in 10 minutes. I was just letting you know, that's all."

He then tugged his bowtie and bowed. I nodded, then he proceeded to walk back outside.

Breakfast? Oh yeah. Father wanted to tell me something.

I then got dressed in my proper clothes and walked to the dining hall.

Dining hall.

"Hey father. You wanted to speak to me, was it?"

 I sat down in one of the far chairs, as the dining table was unusually long. I think they made it longer, but I wonder, what's the point?

"Son. I wanted to sit you down here today to speak to you about a very important topic."

"Whatever it is, I don't have time for-"

"You are to get married."

My eyes widened in rage.

"MARRIED???? BUT FATHER, I DON'T PLAN ON GETTING MARRIED TO ANY PERSON-"

"Person?? By person, you do mean woman, right? Well there are plenty of beautiful women right outside of this castle, how about I get Toya to take you on a little stroll?"

What the fuck.

Father expects me to get married to a woman because of how she looks?

I'm not even ready yet. 

"Father, I'm sorry, but I don't intend on getting married any time soon."

"Son. If you get married, you'll truly be prepared for the role of a king, right?"

Bullshit.

"Father. I'm going outside."

I then burst out the doors, my father glaring at me from behind. It seems like he really wants me to get married. Shall I fulfill his wish, and get married to the woman of my dreams? Or is it really... his dreams?

A quiet spot over the castle walls.

What a lovely meadow this is. I usually don't have the time to go outside, so how about a nice little break? Just hope nobody spots me, of course. A Tenma sitting on the grass just outside the castle walls. How absurd... what if father hears about this? No, of course he won't. He never goes outside anymore after Saki... right. I shouldn't be thinking about any of this. I came here to let my worries go free.

Wait?! Is that someone approaching???

"魔法の一筆に もう夢中よ~"

"もっともっと頂戴 私だけの色を~ ✩"

Is that... humming?

As the humming got louder, I quickly fell into the glorious trance of this person's singing... It seemed so... peaceful... 

Sooner did I know, I fell into a trance. I could listen to this all day long. All my worries just slipped away, about father's preposition, about Saki, or mother, about anything really. Who could this angelic voice belong to?

"Hm? Oh hello there. Have you been listening this whole time?"

A tall, yet thin purple-haired boy with cyan streaks let out a chuckle. At least, I think he's a boy. Could he be older than he seems? His face makes him appear a lot younger... It looks so smooth I could stare at it all day...

Wait. What am I saying?!

"Hello? Are you going to answer me?" The unusual boy asked.

Huh. He doesn't seem to have recognized me. Weird... Does he not know who I am?

"A- Uh.. Hi there. Do you not know who I am?"

He then replied, "No. I find a cute guy sitting outside the castle walls, listening to my singing, and then asking if I know their name?"

"Did you just call me... cute?" I asked. 

He smiled.

"You are cute."

I blushed a little.

"Oh.. I understand."

"Anyways, speaking of names, what is your name?"  He asked me.

Shit. What do I say? I guess I have some sort of advantage here... since he doesn't know me... I'm guessing I should make use of it then.

"My name is Tatsuya... uh... Tanma!"

"Tanma? Doesn't that sound a bit close to 'Tenma'?"  The unusual boy gave me a puzzled look.

"Erm... yeah! I get teased a lot for it at school... haha..."

Is it just me, or did the air get a little thin here?...

"Hey- Tatsuya??? Are you feeling all right??"

I dropped to the ground.
