He knows. Of course he knows. Rui's smart, I'm just... plain stupid. What was I even thinking... lying to a guy like this. I barely know him. I'm such a dumbass...
I couldn't contain the disappointment in myself so I broke into tears.
"Rui I'm sorry..."
Rui frowned, "Sorry isn't gonna cut it."

Flashback. 3 years ago.

It was a chilly winter evening, as the sounds of sirens and horns got louder as I ventured further into the castle halls. I had my medicinal herbs stuffed in a bag I kept inside my pocket, all clean and washed like my father asked for. Although the castle was extremely heated, I was shivering from the cold still. I was confused, so many nurses and doctors running to the nursing room where my mother was, where she was resting. It was so... loud. My ears began to ring as the obnoxious sirens grew louder, and all I could make out was my mother crying my name in a tremulous voice. There I knew, she wasn't going to make it. I ran to her room, but by the time I got there, she was gone. I was too late. I couldn't bare to lose somebody I loved so much. I've never heard my father curse so many times, especially since he was in front of his children. He then broke into tears. Saki broke into tears, the sister I love so much. I broke into tears. The warmth of my mother's body turned into a cold, lifeless one while the nurses and doctors all sobbed in agony. And then it started to rain. Saki sprinted over to me and gave me a big hug, showing that she too was unable to look at my mother's lifeless body. Or it could've been the lightning causing a racket outside. The castle's warmth suddenly dropped in temperature and it was so cold. Nobody's going to ever feel the same anymore.
I wish...
I wish I got to say goodbye.
One farewell...
...Or just to see my mother's beautiful smile again.

I cried out loud, "I'm sorry that I'm so stupid. I'm sorry that I let you take care of me, even though we barely know each other. I'm sorry that I put my hands into yours. I'm sorry that you had to deal with me. I'm sorry that I forced you to run. I'm sorry you had to carry me. I'm sorry that I lied-"
My sentence got cut off as Rui pressed his lips against mine.
