16 || Wonderhoy?

The stars outside gleamed brightly, despite the night's gloom and darkness. Turning, I noticed that Rui was soundly dozing next to me. I lost my focus on the stars and began to watch Rui, sleeping so peacefully. Then, I had the sudden urge to go outside and enjoy the moonlight.

"Rui? Are you there?" I started shaking Rui profusely. I then shuffled my body closer towards his. "Rui... are you awake?"

Rui groaned, "What's the matter, Tsukasa-kun?" He tried to smile, "It's 2am in the morning."

"A- Oh... I just wanted to let you know that I'm going outside, just to take a quick stroll... that's all!" I gave Rui a flustered look and he smiled and nodded his head. He turned around and went back to sleep.

I began to tiptoe out the door, trying my best not to wake up Toya or the rest of the castle. I began navigating my way through the dark, a candle helping me guide myself through the quiet, yet creaky halls. I made my way to the large door leading outside. I then pushed the door with all my might, making a loud 'SCREECH'! 

I heard a lamp switch turn on.

"Tsukasa? Why are you awake this early?"

It was Toya.

"W-Well I just wanted to take a short walk outside... that's all..." I stuttered.

Toya smiled, "That's alright. Just notify me next time, okay?" I nodded my head and Toya went back to his bedroom. I continued pushing the huge door until it finally opened. I began to run to the gates.

Outside the castle.

I walked to the patch of green grass nearby the gate and sat there. It was soft and warm, kinda like Rui's hair but much more spiky. I looked up and gazed at the stars, they were so beautiful.

Hmm... It's been a while since I went outside and relaxed like this. I'm pretty sure this is the same meadow I met Rui in. The flowers here are already blooming, does this mark the start of a new season already?

"Hello!"

I jumped up in shock as I saw a young, short girl with pink hair styled into a short, messy haircut and expressive pink eyes. She had this huge grin on her face, it was almost impossible not to notice her in the dark.

"Hehe, are you even gonna speak to me?" Her eyes widened so wide that they sparkled in the moonlight. 

"Your eyes are sparkly." I later realized what I said and turned around, flustered. She giggled.

She sat down with me. "You really think so?" At this point her eyes were all I could stare at. 

"Uh... well, erm... do you know who I am?" I looked at her, waiting for an answer.

"Yep! You're the prince!!" She began to laugh like a madwoman.

"W-What's so funny??" I got mad.

She sighed, "Well... ever since I was just a wee little child, I've always wanted to meet you! I was so enthusiastic when you hosted that spring festival with your mom, I begged my dad to let me go! Thankfully, he did let me go. I saw you in your spring outfit and you looked so incredible, I can't even recall the whole event, just what you looked like!"

My face turned bright red. "You really wanted to meet me... huh."

She nodded yes. "When I saw you today, I couldn't stop myself but to say hi! I mean, it's just you and me, right? What could possibly stop us from having a conversation!"

"Oh really. Just the two of you, eh?" 

We both turned around to see Rui sneaking up behind us. I struck my hand to my face and shook my head, while the mysterious pink-haired girl looked at Rui in delight.

"Hi there! You're Tsukasa's boyfriend, right? How about you come join us!" She screamed in joy.

Rui smirked. "I'd love that. And you are...?"

She stood up proudly and announced her name to the both of us;

"My name is Emu Otori! My family owns a candy business, it's still kinda small though. W-We still get customers!! Don't worry... hehe."

Rui smiled. "Hello there, Emu."

I muttered out, "H-HI THERE EMU!"

Shit. That came out so awkward.

Rui looked at me confused. "Is something wrong, Tsukasa-kun?"

"Well... I'm sorry but... I've never actually met someone so optimistic before." I looked at Emu. She blushed a little.

"Wow... I can't believe the prince would think of me like that!" Emu giggled out loud.

"WHA- WHAT ARE YOU THINKING???!" I began to chase Emu around the meadow, and heck this girl runs fast. Rui sat down on the grass, cheering me on.

For some reason, this girl makes me happy. Just like Rui and Nene does, but she makes me feel like worth something. I want to be friends with her, if that's fine of course.

"E-EMU...?"
