It was Christmas Eve, 1917 and everyone was celebrating in their tents, including Jamie Hamilton, who was used to spending his holidays away from his family, since he hasn't spoken to them in years. But he was happy to be around some of the people that considered him friends in the Military. Along with that, he was finally able to move on with everything that had happened with Ciera. He didn't think that he would have found himself moving on after the battle in Cambrai. He started to spend time with Mabel, the aggressive and Brash nurse from New York. Perhaps it was because she was similar to him. She was brash, aggressive and always had something smart to say back. Which was something he found interesting about her. He also liked that she didn't take any nonsense from the men out there, especially the ones that were making rude and snarky comments. And Jamie was one of them. She talked sense into him from time to time, especially during his affair with Ciera. But then he didn't realize that he was going to end up being with her in the meantime.
After the battle of Cambrai that year, Jamie was spending a lot of time with Mabel, in his tent, and sometimes in the other men's tent. There had been times where he kicked Simon or Wesley out of their own tents, so he could be with Mabel for some alone time in bed. One of the things that did bother Wesley entirely. But he never said anything about it because he knew Jamie would have something snarky to say or yell at him for not listening to him. But Jamie always knew when to fight back, because every single man out there was intimidated by him.
That Christmas Eve night where everyone was spending time together by the fire, Wesley, Simon, and Benedict found themselves talking about where they thought John's whereabouts were, wondering if he was going to survive. Or even if he did at all. Wesley always tried to be optimistic in the situation with John, but realistically, they all knew that John was struggling the most out of all of them, so there was a high chance that he didn't survive. Jamie was staying by Mabel's side, and she didn't leave his side. Perhaps it was because she pitied him in a way. Mabel watched as Jamie wrapped his arm around her, and Simon looked over at Benedict, and the two of them were uncomfortable by the way they were acting toward each other. But they weren't surprised by the two of them getting together. Since they were quite similar.
The fire was going, and the snow was falling from the sky. Wesley looked up and watched the snowfall, resulting in the fire burning out. Jamie looked down and wondered when Spring Time would finally approach him. The flowers would be blooming, and the trees were glistening. Jamie would never tell anyone this, but he loved seeing the flowers blooming, and the trees glistening and he loved seeing Spring time blossom.
And most importantly, he imagined himself, falling in love in Spring Time.
But Jamie and Mabel were starting to move forward and started to feel a connection between each other quickly, he didn't know why, maybe it was a physical connection for starters. They always tended to each other's needs. Especially Jamie, who knew exactly how to please a woman. But that connection started to grow even more that Christmas Eve.
Perhaps they had a great connection, but Jamie did want to see if it was more than a physical connection. He needed to figure that out for himself, with Mabel. So he chose to be the type of man that would leave his friends just so he could spend time with a woman.
"We shall be back momentarily." Jamie claimed, "Mabel and I have a business to take care of..."
Mabel looked at Wesley, Simon, and Benedict and started laughing uncontrollably. The three boys knew exactly what he meant by that, especially with the way they were acting affectionately towards each other. Which was grossing out Wesley the most out of anyone. Simon remained silent and let the two of them do their own thing, while Benedict sat still and didn't say a word as he was sitting by the burning-out fire.
