That morning, Isla had found herself getting up early so she can leave without notice. She didn't want to worry anyone, especially Jamie who was doing his best to take care of her. So she figured that she would write him a little note saying goodbye. She didn't know what else to do, she felt horrible enough. She thought the best thing was to run away. Run away and don't look back, but she wanted to thank Jamie for how much he had helped her. She wanted him to know how grateful she was for him. But she couldn't ever come back.

Jamie

Thank you for everything. I'm sorry if I've been too much trouble. I hope everything works out between you and Mabel.

Tell Mabel I'm Sorry.

Isla

Isla looked around at the house and then felt a tear stream down her face. She already felt terrible for everything, and she felt as if she stayed any longer, Jamie's relationship with Mabel would be destroyed, and she didn't want a relationship ruined because of her. That was the last thing she wanted. Isla looked inside for one moment before she opened the door and then she went outside of the house with a bag, as she shut the door, she made sure that no one had heard her. She took a deep breath and walked off without looking back.

As Isla was walking, she found herself a little too distracted, exploring the city. She didn't know what to make of it, but there was so much that she had never seen that she had wished she had seen. She needed to clear her head more than anything. She needed to remind herself that Jamie didn't want her, and he was with Mabel. But the problem with Isla was that she couldn't get Jamie out of her mind. But she needed to. She had to.

There were a lot of things about Jamie that Isla couldn't get out of her mind. She thought about his dark brown hair and his dark brown eyes. His height, his physique, she knew looking into his eyes would be dangerous for her. But a part of her never seemed to care. There was so much that she admired about him, and so many feelings she started to develop for him in such a short amount of time and she hated herself for developing them. Especially when he told her not to have feelings for her, and he warned her that men like him weren't for girls like her. But she was twenty-one, she was old enough to make her own decisions, and perhaps Jamie was what she needed in her life. She felt as if he saved her. He saved her from everything horrible that had happened.

But she didn't realize how she was often caught up in work and never had the opportunity to spend time in the city.  Isla wanted to explore the lights on her own, and with it snowing the way it did the night before.  As Isla looked and saw the lake frozen, she couldn't believe how cold it must have gotten that night.  She couldn't believe it, she loved to feel the cold air on her skin and the snow was on her hair. It made her think about the night before and how it was the freest that she had felt in a long time. But she couldn't go back. She couldn't go back to Jamie and Mabel. There was too much that she was causing.

As Isla looked at the frozen lake, she looked around and started to wonder what she could do around the city. But there were loads of things to do, but people were so fixated on the war, she didn't know who was going to be open, what was going to be open, and what closed. But she thought it would be best to walk around and see what was happening in the world. But all there was, was talk about the war. She didn't know when it was going to end.

Isla had a lot that she was thinking about, she was thinking about what would happen when Cal, her factory boss finds out that she had been skipping work the day before and that day. She knew that it was going to be bad the moment she returned to work again. She already was imagining how badly she would be punished for everything. She was scared. More scared than she wanted to admit.
