As they were on the boat rowing far to get away from the Germans, Wesley, Simon, Benedict, and Jamie all worked together to make sure they were ready to fight back if they needed to. There were only a few rifles that worked, the other two weren't loaded and didn't have enough bullets. Which resulted in panic for all four of the men trying to figure out what to do next. Simon took one of the rifles and Wesley took the other, while Benedict and Jamie were on the lookout making sure that Wesley and Simon knew what they were doing. But both of them did. Simon held up his rifle hoping for the Germans to get closer and be ready to fight back. But then Wesley noticed that the Germans were gone, and nowhere to be found, which was something that started to terrify everyone. Including Jamie, who usually knew what he was doing.
Benedict looked over at Jamie and all of them heard the sounds of silence, there were no bombs and no rifles being heard, which started to have Wesley and Simon feel relieved, but Jamie and Benedict knew that something wasn't right. They both knew what it meant, it meant that they were preparing to fight the moment that they were off the water and vulnerable.
Jamie didn't know it was possible to be this terrified. He had never been more scared than he was on the boat. He just thought it would be best to sit and wait for the time where The Germans would start firing their bullets and their bombs. Benedict was keeping a lookout to make sure that no one was in camouflage trying to attack them while they were by the water. There were a lot of things that could have happened and Benedict was always aware of everything, which is why he needed to check for the rest of his surroundings.
After an hour has passed, Jamie heard the sounds of bombs growing louder and louder. Which had him calling for Benedict, Wesley, and Simon telling them to remain silent because he heard the bombs from a distance. He didn't know what they were but he wanted them all to be safe.
"Wesley. Simon." Jamie whispered as he slid over the rifles for them. Benedict continued to look and see if there were any other German men running or flying around. He constantly whispered Jamie's name, checking to see if he was alright. But Jamie kept placing his finger to his mouth so Benedict would remain silent for his own safety. Benedict looked at Jamie, and Jamie could tell that he was growing to panic more and more at each moment. He didn't want to show Wesley and Simon that he was scared because he didn't want them to worry.
"What do we do?" Simon whispered,
"Stay put." Benedict whispered to Simon, and then looking at Wesley and Jamie. Not knowing what to do, Jamie did his best to make sure that everyone was safe. He wanted to protect his friends and make sure all four of them get back to safety.
"Alright. Start rowing." Jamie commanded,
"What?" Wesley asked,
"You heard me. Start Rowing." Jamie repeated, "We're going to fight."
"We are here to fight for our country and align with France!" Jamie reminded everyone, "Of course I am sure."
Jamie started to take a oar and rowed the boat alongside Simon who had the other oar and both of them started rowing to the other side of the lake. Jamie started to look at the rifles and demanded for Wesley and Benedict to load them up so all of them had one. Jamie started to take a oar and rowed the boat alongside Simon who had the other oar and both of them started rowing to the other side of the lake. Everyone knew that Simon knew how to fight and was good at using a rifle, so everyone could trust him to use one.
"You ready?" Benedict asked Simon, who nodded with nerves. Jamie then reminded Simon not to freeze and not feel like he can't do it, because he could. They all knew that he could. But Simon was nervous, he was nervous for himself and everyone around him.
