Vegas
I woke up to a sharp pain as I felt Venice pulling hard on my hair. I winced a little at the pain.
"Not so early, buddy." I tried bringing his hand away from my hair. He quickly let go without hesitation.
"Were you trying to wake me or it's just one of your usual attacks?" I asked looking him in the eyes.
He flashed me a smile and made grabby hands at me.
I didn't hesitate to carry him from his current spot and bring him in for a hug.
"Hey buddy, could you forgive me for making you cry last night?" I was hoping to get a response.
He said nothing but rather, ended up wrapping his arms around my neck. Feeling his warmth this way was fluttering my stomach.
"I guess we're cool now." I run my hand gently through his hair.
There was a knock on the door and Macau entered.
"How are you doing, Venice? he asked as he kiss the baby on the cheek. "I came to check if you guys are okay and no one is hurt."
"We're both fine as you can see. Could you bathe him so I go make his breakfast?" I asked. "I could try bathing him again but I don't want what happened last night to repeat. I'll let Pete teach me that when he returns."
"Okay, bro." He replied, taking Venice from me.
I made my way out of the room and headed to the kitchen to fix him his meal. It took a while but was finally ready and just when I decided on going up to get them, they both were already coming down the stairs.
"Right on time." Venice couldn't hide his excitement at the sight of the food.
"Come here." I took him in my arms and I made him comfortable before beginning to feed him.
Halfway through, he tried taking the spoon from me so he could eat by himself.
"No kid, you're going to stain yourself and we are not ready for that, are we?" This earned me a glare but he continued to eat anyways.
I fed him till he had his fill and Macau cleared the table afterward.
Suddenly, someone barged into the house.
"What the hell is this about? Do you own the place?" I asked in a pissed tone.
"Oh shut up, Vegas!" Tankhun said, making his way to sit comfortably on the couch.
"Why on earth are you here first cousin?" I asked with slight annoyance.
"Well, I'm here to speak to you about something as I know Pete is not here. I wouldn't bother seeing you if he was." He says, glaring at both Macau and me.
"You could have waited till he came home so you tell him whatever it was, right?" I asked with a frown.
"I could wait for him to return but at the same time, I want to see your annoying faces." He laughed and I could just throw him out right now.
"Why on earth is that kid here? I don't want to see his face." He points to Macau.
"I don't want to see you either. Mind you, this is my house and so if you're uncomfortable with me being here, then you can choose to leave." Macau replied looking all annoyed.
It was becoming unbearable at this point and Venice had a deep frown on his face. I figured he was annoyed with what's happening right now and
Macau didn't seem like he was backing down anytime soon."You're just jealous Pete left you for my brother and I bet you don't even have any interesting person to watch a series with right? P' Pete always watched a series with me every night before going to bed. It's so much fun being with him." Macau said and his sole purpose was to get Tankhun worked up and with the way my cousin was fuming with rage, looks like my boy succeeded.
"I hate you!" Tankhun yelled. "I'll save our fight for another day." He turned to face me to discuss whatever it was he came for.
"I learned Vernice will be a year old in two weeks and I want to be the one organizing a party for him. Don't think I came here to get your permission, Vegas. I just came to let you know I will organize the party and it will be at the main house. You are to come to the main house a day before his birthday. I'll have them prepare a room for you guys to stay over. That's all I came to say." He finished his rants and crossed his legs, looking at me with that annoying expression of his.
"What the hell cousin." I finally spoke up. "What right do you even have coming here to make such a decision for us? Looks like you have forgotten whose son it is you're talking about. What makes you think I Vegas, will have my son's first-year birthday celebration at the main family house? That must be some stupid joke cousin." I looked at him irritated. Macau was equally pissed as well.
Vernice was looking scared by the situation now as the atmosphere had never been like this in the house ever since he arrived. I hugged him tightly and run soothing circles on his back, just to calm him.
"First cousin, you can see Venice is even scared of you so why don't you just be on your way already?" I was hoping he'd leave.
"Don't give me that, Vegas." He replied. "The kid loves me as much as I love him. We even watch series together whenever he visited with Pete." He sounded quite confident.
"I'll take my leave now but make sure you tell Pete when he returns." He walked out but not before blowing Venice a kiss in the air."
This is just pure nonsense.
It was almost evening now and Venice was playing with his toys in the living room while I cooked in the kitchen. I wonder when Pete will be back.
"How's everyone doing?" Pete's voice resonated from behind me and I quickly turned to look at him.
"You're back finally." I walked over to him and when I got closer, I pulled him in for a hug. "I missed you he said."
"I missed you too, Vegas." He happily replied.
"Pa!"
Vernice screamed, getting up and running toward us. He stumbled so many times because he recently just learned how to walk. He finally made it to us.
"Hey there, my cutest little pumpkin" Pete lifted him off the floor, hugging and kissing his face all over.
"The pillar of the household is finally back and nothing could make us happier." Macau appeared.
"You're right about that," I replied with a smile.
One happy family.
See you in the next chapter.
