A/N: This book is meant to be heartwarming and not toxic. Most importantly, it's more about Vegas and Venice's relationship buildup. There are tons of PeteVenice ffs out there and I thought it will be nice to see how Vegas progresses with Venice so I created this. It's nice having character development on Vegas' side and I see nothing wrong with it. If VegasVenice is weird to you and not your cup of tea, then you are welcome to drop this book at any time.

2/2 update in 24hrs. Enjoy!

There's a one-year time skip and there's a reason for it.

A year later

Venice peeked his head through the door that was about half an inch or two opened. He tried his utmost best to not make a sound because Pete was still in a deep slumber. It was already 8 am and Vegas was out to attend to business even though it was the weekend. Venice tiptoed until he got to the bed.

He leaned in to scan his sleeping father, his hands twitching to touch his face. Giving in to the strong urge, he brought his hand up to caress Pete's cheeks, giggling at how soft they were. Pete was deep asleep and didn't notice the boy's actions. Venice traced his fingers across his eyebrows until they got to the nose and he couldn't help poking it.

He sits silently, watching Pete sleep. Why is he sleeping so much? Weird. He pouts and continued to stare. He lay there for 30 minutes and suddenly realized this was odd. He decides to wake him.

"Pa," he called in whispers. Pete groaned but did not open his eyes.

He was hearing the boy perfectly but was too weak to respond.

"Pa, wake up!" This time he was very loud and Pete had no choice but to get up.

"Why are you so loud?" He tried to pull the boy towards him but his strength was failing him completely.

"What's wrong with you?" Venice asked concerned. "You've been sleeping for far too long which isn't like you.

"I'm fine, just a little tired. Where's your daddy?"

"He left a while ago. I'm sure he didn't want to disturb your sleep so he did not wake you." Venice replied, pulling the sheets off Pete. "Go freshen up already, P'Macau is preparing breakfast."

Pete nods and did exactly as told. He sluggishly walked into the bathroom and proceeds with his morning ritual. Finally done, Venice held his hand, and they made their way downstairs to have breakfast.

Throughout the meal, Pete talked less which was unusual of him. He was poking the food, having no appetite.

"Are you sure you're okay? You don't look well." Macau mumbles.

"I told you guys I'm fine. Continue with your meal." His tone left no room for argument.

Breakfast ended and Pete went up to his bedroom. Venice was doubting he was okay and that made him worried. Pete wanted to be left alone and he respects his decision.

Macau left the house and Venice was all alone in the living room, doing nothing in particular. It was already past noon and he still hasn't seen Pete. Did you say you want to be left alone? I'm sorry but I can't do that.

He gets up and rushed upstairs. He gave a quick knock and entered. Pete was completely out. The boy got closer and his eyes widened at Pete sweating profusely. Venice brought his hand to touch his forehead and it was abnormally hot.
